Abstract: Multi-frequency buried object location system transmitters and locators are disclosed. A transmitter may generate and provide output signals to a buried object at a plurality of frequencies, which may be selected based on a connection type. Corresponding locators may simultaneously receive a plurality of magnetic field signals emitted from the buried object and generate visual and/or audible output information based at least in part on the plurality of received magnetic field signals. The visual and/or audible output may be further based on signals received from a quad-gradient antenna array.

Abstract: Self-standing attachment devices for use with utility locator systems are disclosed. In one embodiment a self-standing attachment device includes a top assembly, three extendable legs coupled to the top assembly with a movable joint, and a bottom assembly, with the self-standing attachment device detachably coupleable to a locator of the system. A formed coupler in the top assembly allows for readily attaching and detaching the self-standing attachment device and the locator.

Abstract: Utility locators with various antenna configurations for detecting buried objects or otherwise inaccessible pipes and other conduits, cables, conductors and inserted transmitters are disclosed. In one embodiment, a locator includes a body with a mast and head unit, one or more dodecahedral antenna nodes coupled to or on or within the body, and a camera disposed on or within the body. The camera may be a still camera, a video camera, or both. The locator may also include one or more GPS sensors coupled to one or more GPS antennas.
