Abstract: A cylinder wrench for inserting and removing cylinder valves from pressurized cylinders, and a vise assembly for firmly gripping cumbersome objects such as pressurized cylinders and large diameter pipes. The long-handled vise assembly includes a chain which is wrapped about the pipe for cylinder and then tightened to provide a firm grip. The wrench assembly mates with the cylinder valve and includes a gripping bar that permits high torque to be applied to the valve. Counteracting torque can be applied to the cylinder by gripping it with the vise assembly and bracing the vise assembly handle.

Abstract: A holder for a flashlight and the like comprising a permanent magnet on the flashlight body and a magnetically attractable bracket having a base with a resilient pad and having an adhesive backing adapted to adhere the bracket, preferably in an upright position, to an associated support structure, the bracket having a peripheral flange along its upright lateral sides and along its bottom edge guiding the magnet and preventing it from gravitating out of the bracket from vibrations ungendered in the supporting structure which may be the frame of an automobile. The pad serves to absorb contact shocks to preserve the magnet and to absorb vibrations.

Abstract: Thallous salts of Beta -dicarbonyl compounds, prepared by reaction of the Beta -dicarbonyl compounds with a thallous alkoxide, are treated with alkyl halides to give C-alkyl products in high yield, with acyl halides at room temperature to give Caryl products, and with acyl halides at low temperatures to give O-acyl products. Thallous phenolates are esterfied with acyl or aroyl halides. Anhydrides are also prepared, as are biaryls and bi-sec-alkyls. N-Heterocyclics, including purines and pyrimidines, are N-alkylated. Lactams are O-acylated or Nalkylated.
