Abstract: A dendrite resistant battery may include a first electrode, a second electrode, and an electrolyte interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The dendrite resistant battery may further include at least one acoustic wave device configured to generate a plurality of acoustic waves during a charging of the battery. The charging of the battery may trigger cations from the first electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the second electrode. The plurality of acoustic waves may agitate the electrolyte to at least homogenize a distribution of cations in the electrolyte. The homogenization of the distribution of cations may prevent a formation of dendrites on the second electrode by at least increasing a uniformity of the deposit of cations on the second electrode. Related methods and systems for battery management are also provided.

Abstract: A battery may include a first electrode, a second electrode, an electrolyte, and at least one acoustic device configured to generate acoustic streaming during a charging and/or a discharging of the battery. The charging of the battery may trigger cations from the first electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the second electrode while the discharging of the battery may trigger cations from the second electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the first electrode. The acoustic streaming may drive a mixing and/or a turbulent flow of the electrolyte, which may increase a charge rate and/or a discharge rate of the battery by increasing diffusion rate of cations and/or anions. The mixing and/or the turbulent flow may further prevent a formation of dendrites on the first electrode and/or the second electrode by at least homogenizing a distribution of the cations and/or anions in the electrolyte.

Abstract: A hydraulically driven surgical apparatus may be a tube enclosing a first channel filled with a first fluid. Changing a fluid pressure in the first channel may trigger a deformation of the tube. The deformation of the tube may perform an action associated with a surgical procedure. Related methods for steering a hydraulically driven surgical apparatus are also provided.

Abstract: A system of ultrasound based cellular stimulation may include a stimulation apparatus and a stimulation controller. The stimulation apparatus may include a transducer element formed from a single crystal piezoelectric material such as lithium niobate. The stimulation apparatus may deliver high magnitudes of acoustic pressure relative to its dimensions (e.g., size, weight, and/or the like) and without significant heating. The stimulation controller may determine a cellular response to ultrasound stimulation such as membrane deflection and transmembrane voltage change. The stimulation controller may determine, based on the predicted cellular response, parameters for an ultrasound stimulation treatment for a patient such as a magnitude and/or duration of an ultrasonic stimulus for achieving a desired magnitude of membrane deflection and/or transmembrane voltage changes. The ultrasound stimulation treatment may be administered to the patient by the stimulation apparatus operating in accordance with the parameters.
