Abstract:
Airflow through a plurality of circuit packs is optimized by resistively limiting airflow to circuit packs determined to experience excess airflow, typically those circuit packs with lower heat-dissipating component density. Excess airflow is preferably reduced by a backpressure generation means, such as an airflow resistor connected to the circuit pack. The airflow resistor defines a clearance area sized to achieve the desired airflow reduction.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing vehicle tires includes a feed mechanism for transferring flattened tire treads into a shearing assembly which includes a rotating shear assembly. The shear assembly is comprised of a rotating arbor supporting a stack of a plurality of cutting plates having cutting inserts extending therefrom in a variable helical pattern. The inserts rotate past an anvil edge, and the sharp edges of the inserts shear the infeeding edge of the tire tread. The inserts are replaceable, and the spacing of the cutting head and anvil edge is variable to optimize the shearing action.
Abstract:
A nozzle useful for enhancing localized cooling of electronic elements and the like is provided. The nozzle is mountable on a substantially planar face of a substrate. It is conformed to intercept a fluid flowing across said face and redirect it toward the substrate. The nozzle comprises a hood, an output window, and between them, a transition region. The transition region is conformed to turn the flowing fluid toward the substrate and to contract the fluid flow.
Abstract:
A dental floss dispenser is shown having two mirror image housing halves formed with a main body portion capturing a spool of floss and an arcuately extending arm with floss guided from the spool through a locking station out of the housing to the free end of the arm and back into the housing along the arm and back through the locking station and out of the housing. A severing blade is provided to sever used portions of floss or selected lengths of fresh floss from the spool.
Abstract:
The invention relates to transgenic sugar beet plants having a phenotype of delayed bolting. The invention further relates to polynucleotides that are closely linked to the bolting gene or B gene within the sugar beet genome and can be used for the discrimination between the annual and biennial genotype or between different haplotypes within plant groupings of sugar beet plants exhibiting a biennial genotype.
Abstract:
To improve the thermal management of an enclosure for electrical equipment or the like, one or more wall-mounted panels are provided. An air-filled space between each panel and the adjacent wall, door, or ceiling has insulative behavior when the air in the space is stagnant. Accordingly, thermal exchange through the wall, etc. is impeded. When the air in the air-filled space is circulated, thermal exchange is permitted.
