THIS INVENTION RELATIVES TO CERTAIN NEW NITROGEN-CONTAINING COMPOUNDS, MORE PARTICULARLY TO N-SUBSTITUTED AND N,N-DISUBSTITUTED AMIDES, THE ACYL MOIETIES OF WHICH ARE THE ACYL MOIETIES OF TH HEXACHLOROCYCLOPENTADIENE ADDUCTS OF EITHER 9-OCTADECNOIC OR 10-UNDECENOIC ACIDS. THE COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE THE SUBJECT OF THIS INVENTION ARE CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT AS GROWTH INHIBITORS THEY ARE EFFECTIVE AGAINST A VARIETY OF BACTERIA, YEASTS, AND MOLDS, SOME OF WHICH ARE PATHOGENIC. THEY ARE ALSO USEFUL AS PLASTICIZERS.

Abstract:
This invention relates to certain new nitrogen-containing compounds, more particularly to N-substituted and N,Ndisubstituted piperazine amides, the acyl moieties of which are the acyl moieties of the hexachlorocyclopentadiene adducts of either 9-octadecenoic or 10-undecenoic acids. The compounds which are the subject of this invention are characterized by the fact that as growth inhibitors they are effective against a variety of bacteria, yeasts, and molds, some of which are pathogenic. They are also useful as plasticizers.
