    Abstract: An inflatable structure is disclosed comprising a plurality of pneumatic chambers which are mechanically attached to a woven metallic fabric surface. A system of cooperating valves and pumps selectively fill the pneumatic chambers with either a gas or another fluid to alter the buoyancy of the assembly. The structure is sunk to the bottom of a ship-berthing area and remains in said position until just prior to the landing of a watercraft, whereupon said structure is caused to be buoyant, raising itself and any explosive devices which might have been secreted in the berthing area.

    Abstract: An underwater towing cable system is described wherein a nonNewtonian fluid is pumped from a towing ship reservoir, through a supply passage extending substantially the length of a faired cable assembly, for distribution through pores into a boundary layer of water adjacent the cable assembly. The pores may be limited to predetermined portions of the cable assembly and may be characterized by effective areas that increase proportional to position along the cable length, whereby fluid distribution is uniform irrespective of frictional losses in the supply passage.

    Abstract: The invention disclosed is an improved buoy and storagelaunching arrangement therefor. The buoy has a buoyant body portion with a spring extension protruding upwardly from the upper portion thereof. A spool containing a suitable length of lightweight line, which may be unwound axially therefrom, is secured to the lower portion of the body portion. Clip means secure the spring extension to the side of the device and secure the body to an anchor, which has an explosive actuation squib thereon, in such a manner as to form a compact cylindrical arrangement which may be explosively expelled from a cylindrical storage compartment.
