Abstract: An aeromechanically stable sabot system that includes a center of gravity that is placed forward of an aerodynamic center of the aeromechanically stable sabot system when in steady-state flight. By placing the center of gravity forwards of the aerodynamic center, the sabot system exhibits positive longitudinal and directional stability. To illustrate, the sabot system and/or portions thereof will return to stable flight after being disturbed in pitch (vertically or about a transverse horizontal axis) or yaw (side to side or about a vertical axis) when traveling horizontally.

Abstract: A general mounting method for ducted fan propulsors is disclosed. This mounting method uses extremely slender stators that connect the duct ring to the propulsor which is mounted in the middle and drives the rotor, fan or propeller. The slender stators take the form of spokes and as such are so slender that the midspan stresses within the spokes are dominated by axial tension loads rather than the shear loads experienced by conventional stators. The spokes may have an aerodynamic shape and damping methods may be used to retard spoke vibrations and transmission of engine vibrations to the duct and force. The duct itself is also stiffened by the spoke arrangement, thereby reducing low frequency vibration modes.

Abstract: Aerial vehicles, their structures and methods of locomotion are described. An aerial vehicle may include a fuselage having an x-axis, a plurality of flexible structures emanating from the fuselage that take the form of a feather, wing and/or tentacle, at least one motor, and at least one propeller driven by one or more motors. Each flexible structure may extend from a fuselage in any direction and are used to enhance the observability of the aircraft by moving and/or oscillating within a frequency band and at a magnitude that is more easily observed by and catches the human eye.
