Abstract: A microscope may receive a fiber optic connector via a connector adapter of the microscope, wherein the connector adapter includes an opening and a shaped reflective surface surrounding the opening. The microscope may align a ferrule of the fiber optic connector with the opening of the connector adapter of the microscope, wherein the ferrule includes a ferrule chamfer or a ferrule radius. The microscope may transmit direct light onto the shaped reflective surface and may receive reflected light from the ferrule chamfer or the ferrule radius and with a camera of the microscope.

Abstract: A device may capture, using a camera associated with the device, a first image of a first set of optical fibers associated with an optical connector within a field of view of the camera. The device may determine that an actual distance of a relative movement of the camera and the optical connector and an expected distance of the relative movement of the camera and the optical connector fail to match. The device may perform one or more actions after determining that the actual distance and the expected distance fail to match.

Abstract: A device for connecting to an optical cable having a set of optical fibers may include a microscope, an assembly to move the microscope in a continuous manner about an axis substantially parallel to a mating surface of the optical cable, and without moving the device, to bring one or more optical fibers, of the set of optical fibers, within a field of view of the microscope without moving the optical cable, and one or more processors. The device may receive an indication to perform a set of analyses of the set of optical fibers of the optical cable. The device may perform the set of analyses of the set of optical fibers by modifying a position of the microscope of the assembly of the device in a set of directions. The device may output a result of the set of analyses for display.

Abstract: A device may include an input component and a focus control component. The focus control component may receive, from the input component, an input associated with adjusting a focus of a field of view of the device. The focus control component may determine whether an area of interest is present in the field of view. The focus control component may adjust, based on determining that the area of interest is not present in the field of view, the focus of the field of view at a focus speed associated with the input, or, based on determining that the area of interest is present in the field of view, may determine one or more parameters for modifying the focus speed, modify the focus speed based on the one or more parameters, and adjust the focus of the field of view at the modified focus speed.

Abstract: A device may capture, using a camera associated with a microscope, a first image of interstitial material associated with a first set of optical fibers in a field of view of the camera. The device may perform a comparison of the first image of interstitial material and a second image of interstitial material associated with a second set of optical fibers. The device may determine that the first set of optical fibers does not include an expected set of optical fibers based on a result of performing the comparison. The device may determine an amount by which to adjust the field of view of the camera based on the result of performing the comparison. The device may perform one or more actions.
