Abstract:
An air cooler and cleaner for a truck cab or the like formed as a comparatively flat, box-like unit adapted to be mounted upon the top of a truck cab. Air flowing into this cooler will move through a rotating, cylindrical filter and thence through a duct and into the vehicle cab. A reservoir is provided in the lower portion of the cooler through which the cylindrical filter moves to continuously wet and wash the fibers thereof.
Abstract:
A system for detecting blood in eggs in which a beam of substantially monochromatic light or at least light within a very narrow wavelength band in the region of 578 nanometers (nm) is passed through an egg to be tested. The band is continually shifted in wavelength a number of times per second between substantially the shortest and the mid-length wavelengths of the broader blood absorption band, i.e. 578 to 573 nm. In a preferred embodiment, this is effected by a Fabry-Perot type interference filter placed in a light beam and oscillated about an axis by an electromagnetic device. A photoelectric device senses the light transmitted by the egg and the output signal derived therefrom is compared with an oscillating signal transmitted in time with the oscillation of the filter. If one phase relation exists between such signals, the egg is rejected as having blood present therein and if an opposite phase relation exists, the egg is retained as clear.
Abstract:
Apparatus for manufacturing goods made of leather or like material in which a flat piece of the material, preconditioned to be readily deformable, is located between a diaphragm and a former, the diaphragm is moved to nip the material between the diaphragm and the former, the locating means is removed, the diaphragm is moved towards the former until a frame in which it is held makes a vacuum-tight seal with a table on which the former is mounted, and vacuum is applied to cause the diaphragm to draw and shape the material closely around the former.
Abstract:
A recreational toy for two cooperating players which includes a first waist-attached device including a tethered ball for one player and a second waist-attached device defining a plurality of different sized openings therein for receiving the ball. The first player manipulates his waist to swing the ball upwardly to the level of the second player''s waist, and the second player manipulates his body to catch the ball in one of the openings of his device.
Abstract:
A log is shaped to form a stick, which is then planed along longitudinal surfaces so that vertical dimensions of the stick are within tolerances for each size of dressed lumber to be cut therefrom while transverse horizontal dimensions of the stick equal the sum of horizontal dimensions for sizes of dressed lumber to be cut therefrom plus an allowance for each saw cut to be made, and the planed stick is sawed longitudinally with gang planer saws to produce dressed lumber.
Abstract:
A compact and readily storable exercising apparatus. The apparatus in its folded form resembles a chair and may be so utilized. It comprises an upright stand member including a support base, a pair of tubular uprights, a U-frame adjustably telescoped on the uprights and a pair of arm pieces projecting from the legs of the U, and a three piece foldable board, one end of which may be engaged with pairs of supporting hooks on the stand with the remainder of the board arranged in accordance with the exercise program being undertaken. The board may be folded and supported by the arm pieces and uprights to yield the chairlike structure. With the board disengaged from the stand, the latter may be adjusted in height and utilized in chinning and lift-off exercises. A pair of tubular springs and hand pieces are stored in the hollow arm pieces and are attachable to points on the stand member for use in various parts of an exercise program.
