Abstract: Removable filter apparatus for a laundry treating appliance are provided. A filter element is selectively attachable to a lifter base, the filter element being sized to fit within the lifter cover to allow an array of bristles extending upward from the filter element to capture particulate within the water flow. A cleaning comb is hingedly attached to the lifter cover, operable to be rotatably lifted through the filter element to remove pet hair from the bristles of the filter element. A chamber wall extends from an apex of the generally trapezoidal prism shape of the lifter cover downwards towards the open rectangular bottom, the chamber wall dividing the processing space into two water flow paths. Pouch filter elements are selectively attachable to the lifter cover for placement within the two water flow paths to allow the pouch filter elements to capture particulate within the water flow.
