Abstract: A laundry appliance includes a cabinet having a rotating drum operably positioned therein for processing fabric. At least one transducer is positioned proximate the drum that provides an ultrasonic resonance that is directed into an interior chamber of the drum. The ultrasonic resonance is adapted to be directed into damp fabric being treated within the interior chamber. The ultrasonic resonance serves to modify water trapped within the damp fabric into a substantially gaseous form.

Abstract: A lint filter for a laundry appliance includes a handle, a first panel that extends from the handle and has a mesh filtration member, and a second panel that is coupled to the first panel at a hinge member that opposes the handle. The hinge member biases the second panel against the mesh filtration member to define a closed position, and a flow of process air through the mesh filtration member moves the second panel away from the mesh filtration member to define an open position that forms a filtering space for capturing particulate matter from the process air. Upon deactivation of the flow of the process air, the lint filter returns to the closed position that is configured to trap the particulate matter in the filtering space and between the first and second panels.

Abstract: A laundry appliance includes a rotating drum for processing laundry. A heat pump system has a heat exchanger that is positioned within an air conditioning chamber. A blower directs process air through an air path that includes the rotating drum and the air conditioning chamber. An insulating member positioned between a top portion of the heat exchanger and an underside of a cover member for the air conditioning chamber. The insulating member directs the process air through the heat exchanger and away from the underside of the cover member and absorbs sound and vibration generated by movement of process air through the heat exchanger.

Abstract: A drive motor for a laundry appliance includes a stator having a plurality of windings that extend around teeth of the stator. A rotor is in electromagnetic communication with the stator. The rotor is coupled to a drive shaft that extends through the stator. When the winding of the stator is electrically energized, the rotor rotates relative to the stator at a predetermined range of rotational frequencies that includes a baseline natural frequency of the rotor. A harmonic-modulating member is attached to the rotor that modulates the baseline natural frequency of the rotor to be a modulated natural frequency. The predetermined range of rotational frequencies is free of the modulated natural frequency of the rotor.
