Abstract:
A clamp assembly of a vehicle leaf spring suspension is disclosed. The clamp assembly has an axle bracket secured to a vehicle axle and a top cap secured to the axle bracket by mechanical fasteners to define an axle seat. The axle bracket and top cap may include interlocking keys and keyways to cooperate with the mechanical fasteners in transmitting the load from the vehicle axle. A spring seat of the leaf spring is received within the axle seat and is tapered. The tapered spring seat, when combined with a deformable liner in the axle seat, effectively eliminates the inactive portion of the leaf spring to increase the effective length of the spring and minimize the spring rate.
Abstract:
A vehicle leaf spring suspension having a low spring rate is disclosed. The suspension has an axle seat secured to a vehicle axle. The leaf spring is clamped at its spring seat area to the axle seat at the clamp group mounting surface of the axle seat and with certain of the disclosed axle seats, can be clamped such that the spring seat area is asymmetrically positioned with respect to the vehicle axle centerline. Also, an active clamp group arrangement can be used to utilize the entire physical length of the leaf spring.

Abstract:
A method of making a circuitized substrate and an electrical assembly utilizing same in which the substrate is comprised of at least two sub-composites in which the dielectric material of at least one of these sub-composites is heated during bonding (e.g., lamination) to the other sufficiently to cause the dielectric material to flow into and substantially fill openings in a conductive layer for the bonded structure. Conductive thru-holes are formed within the bonded structure to couple selected ones of the structure's conductive layers. Formation of an electrical assembly is possible by positioning one or more electrical components (e.g., semiconductor chips or chip carriers) on the final structure and electrically coupling these to the structure's external circuitry.

A semiconductor laser device, with a semiconductor laser element operable to oscillate and output a laser beam, is provided with a heat generation unit operable to generate heat so as to regulate the temperature of the semiconductor laser element, a laser beam splitting unit operable to split a laser beam, oscillated and output from the semiconductor laser element, into first and second beams each forming an optical path different from each other, and a heat generation control unit operable to control the amount of heat generated by the heat generation unit so as to maintain constant a fringe spacing between interference fringes with a plurality of fringes obtained as a result of the interference between the first and second beams.
Abstract:
A comparator circuit includes a reference generator connecting to a first source providing a first voltage. The reference generator is operative to generate a reference signal and includes a control circuit selectively operable in at least a first mode or a second mode in response to a first control signal, wherein in the first mode the reference signal is not generated, and in the second mode the reference generator is operative to generate the reference signal. The comparator circuit further includes a comparator connecting to a second source providing a second voltage, the second voltage being less than the first voltage. The comparator is operative to receive the reference signal and an input signal, and to generate an output signal which is a function of a comparison between the input signal and the reference signal. A hysteresis circuit is included in the comparator circuit for selectively controlling a switching threshold of the comparator, relative to the input signal, as a function of the output signal of the comparator. The comparator circuit includes a voltage clamp operative to limit a voltage applied to one or more devices in the control circuit, the comparator, and/or the hysteresis circuit to less than the second voltage.
Abstract:
A computer designed nanoengineered membrane for separation of dissolved species. One embodiment provides an apparatus for treatment of a fluid that includes ions comprising a microengineered porous membrane, a system for producing an electrical charge across the membrane, and a series of nanopores extending through the membrane. The nanopores have a pore size such that when the fluid contacts the membrane, the nanopores will be in a condition of double layer overlap and allow passage only of ions opposite to the electrical charge across the membrane.
Abstract:
According to the invention, there is provided a hybrid maize plant, designated as 34D71, produced by crossing two Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize lines. This invention relates to the hybrid seed 34D71, the hybrid plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and trivial modifications of hybrid 34D71. This invention also relates to methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic maize plants produced by that method. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize lines derived from hybrid maize line 34D71 and to the maize lines derived by the use of those methods.
