Abstract:
Embedded sensors and onboard or off-board processing in an aligner case can detect aligner material and/or quality. Material detection can be used for counterfeit detection, or to trigger material specific events. Quality detection can include detection of common aligner failures or defects. A case for a dental appliance may include a tray for supporting the dental appliance, a cover coupled to the tray, and at least one sensor to detect a deformation of the dental appliance. A case for a dental appliance may include a tray for housing the dental appliance, a cover coupled to the tray, and at least one sensor configured to detect a change in material of the dental appliance.
Abstract:
A temporary cylinder for snap-in retention with an elongate dental implant includes an elongate body extending from a first end to a second end, the elongate body being generally cylindrical and having an upper portion and a lower engagement portion and the temporary cylinder's lower engagement portion includes a male irregular hexagonal plug, and wherein the dental implant includes a female regular hexagonal socket, and wherein the male irregular hexagonal plug and the female regular hexagonal socket are configured for inter-engagement with each other, and the fitment of the irregular hexagonal plug and regular hexagonal socket together with one another results in a frictional fit when inter-engaged.
Abstract:
An oral appliance may be used to stabilize a subject during radiation therapy. The body of the oral appliance may be configured to be secured within the subject's mouth in an as-used position. A handle of the oral appliance may extend from the subject's mouth during use. The body may comprise a first portion configured to engage maxillary teeth, a second portion configured to engage mandibular teeth, a tongue positioning component, and/or other components. The tongue positioning component may be configured to receive the subject's tongue when the oral appliance is in the as-used position and to facilitate positioning the subject's tongue in a predetermined location and/or orientation with respect to the oral appliance when in use. One or both of the first portion or second portion may be configured to displace corresponding mandibular teeth or maxillary teeth away from the body and/or tongue positioning component in the as-used position.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a surgical guide, and a crown and an abutment in a mouth for a dental implant, including an operation of obtaining a primarily scanned image through scanning of inner and outer surfaces of a denture which has a first image matching groove matched with a patient's tooth implanting portion and in which a plurality of reference markers are attached to an outside, obtaining a secondarily scanned image through oral scanning of upper and lower jaws while the denture is installed, preliminarily matching the secondarily scanned image with the primarily scanned image, obtaining an integrated scanned image considering a vertical dimension by reversing the first image matching groove so that an image of the first image matching groove is dimensionalized from the primarily scanned image, and obtaining a CT image through CT scanning of the upper and lower jaws.
Abstract:
A dental device is described. The dental device includes a surgical template having one or more sites for drilling osteotomies in the maxillary or mandibular jaw and a false teeth set. The surgical template and false teeth set are configured to fit together to form a denture prosthesis that can be implanted in a patient. Also described are a method for creating a surgical dental template, a method for implanting a dental prosthesis, and a method for reducing jaw bone in a patient.
Abstract:
Provided herein are compositions for applying a reference marker pattern or grid to the surface of an object to be imaged three-dimensionally. These compositions can be quick drying for ease of use. Methods of use of the compositions are also provided as well as devices and kits for the application of the compositions.
Abstract:
A radiographic marker. The marker includes a first portion of radiolucent material comprising a first radiopaque pattern. The first portion is configured to be positioned on a first surface of an imaging subject during use. The marker also includes a second portion of radiolucent material comprising a second radiopaque pattern visually distinguishable from the first radiopaque pattern. The second portion is configured to be positioned on a second generally opposite surface of the subject during use. When radiant energy is emitted through the first portion, the subject, and the second portion to produce a radiograph, the first radiopaque pattern and the second radiopaque pattern produce corresponding first and second shadows on the radiograph. The first shadow and the second shadow are visually distinguishable from one another based on the first radiopaque pattern being visually distinguishable from the second radiopaque pattern, and are usable for identifying characteristics of the radiograph.

Abstract:
The present invention provides an inexpensive surgical guide preparation tool by which an insertion hole for implant can be correctly and easily formed at a predetermined position. The surgical guide preparation tool has a pair of marker members opposing to each other and a gauge body which has a support member for connecting the marker members, and the gauge body is attached to a surgical guide body. The surface of each marker member is provided with grid-like lines which are recognizable by a CT scanned image and disposed longitudinally and laterally at substantially regular intervals; predetermined marks are chosen from intersections of the grid-like lines, and a guide ring is attached to the surgical guide body so that a direction connecting the chosen marks is used as an axial direction of the guide ring. The axial direction of the guide ring is used as an insertion direction for implant.
Abstract:
A radiopaque composition for use in visualizing and cleaning root canal system anatomy, pathologies, anomalies, and iatrogenic conditions. The composition comprises a radiopaque iodine solution and a sodium hypochlorite solution. The iodine solution comprises diatrizoate meglumine and sodium iodine. The iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 5:95 to 95:5, by volume. Preferably, the iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 30:70 to 70:30, by volume. And more preferably, the iodine solution and sodium hypochlorite solution are mixed in a ratio of between 45:55 to 55:45, by volume. In use, the root canal system anatomy, anomaly, pathology, or iatrogenic condition to be visualized and addressed or treated is liberally flushed with the composition, preferably after the root canal system has been exposed. The sodium hypochlorite in the composition will digest pulp in the canal system and destroy and remove any organisms and irritants residing in or on the anatomy, anomaly, or pathology. The iodine in the solution will enable a dentist to take a high contrast X-ray to visualize the anatomy, anomaly, pathology, or iatrogenic event in three-dimensions. The solution is particularly effective for visualizing root canal systems.
