A calender for the treatment of web-like materials, including a fixed structure adapted to support two heated rollers shaped to be connected to the fixed structure, to a drive unit and to a heating system. The calender includes automatic elements for engaging and respectively for disengaging the rollers to and from the fixed structure, the drive unit and the heating system; the automatic elements are controlled by a programmable control unit and each of the rollers has an engaging surface shaped to be engaged by mechanical elements for moving the rollers which move the rollers between the calender and one or more waiting or parking stations while the rollers are at a temperature between 50° C. and 200° C.

In one embodiment, a roll for devices for the treatment of ribbon-shaped paper material includes a central shaft, on which a coaxial tubular jacket is fitted, among which two oscillating and non-rotating connection organs are positioned, the central shaft of the roll having, at opposite ends, oscillating bearings housed in a supporting structure, wherein the central shaft and jacket are both rotating and are also made torsionally integral by means of at least one flexible organ capable of transmitting a torque. A printing or embossing unit has at least two cylinders (1, 2). Of the latter, one working cylinder (1) carries at least one printing or embossing stencil (14) on its circumference, in order to emboss or to print, with the aid of the said at least one printing or embossing stencil (14), a web (5) made from a flat material which is conveyed between the said working cylinder and a back-pressure cylinder (2). The embossing stencil (14) extends in each case only over part of the circumference of the working cylinder (1) and is held on the working cylinder (1) with the aid of a fastening device (12, 13, 15). The working cylinder (1) is provided in its interior with a heating device. The fastening device (12, 13, 15) has at least one clamping ring (15) which acts on the circumferential edge (16) of the printing or embossing stencil (14) and clamps against the working cylinder (1).
