Abstract:
An object of the present invention to realize a step of producing an environmentally friendly textile product using a solvent in place of conventionally used water or an organic solvent in a textile product scouring step. A method according to one aspect of the present invention includes a step (a) of bringing a fluid containing supercritical carbon dioxide into contact with the textile product to remove part or all substances adhered to a surface of the textile product.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a composition for thy-cleaning textile articles, characterised in that it is anhydrous and in that it comprises, as an active cleaning agent: dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether, an amphiphilic solvent A chosen from the group consisting of dipropylene glycol mono-n-propyl ether, dipropylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether, dipropylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether or the mixtures thereof, and at least one dibasic ester B having a KB index higher than 30 and represented by the following general formula (I): R—O—C(═O)—(CH2)n-C(═O)—O—R′ (I) in which n is a whole number between 1 and 9; R and R′ are identical or different, each separately representing an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an alkenyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
A method of cleaning a carpet surface comprises the steps of simultaneously dispensing a cleaning composition and an oxidizing composition that enhances the cleanability of the cleaning composition from separate first and second chambers onto the carpet surface and recovering a soiled cleaning solution from the carpet.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for washing fabric loads without water or using water only as a co-solvent are disclosed. One method of non-aqueous clothes washing includes the steps of disposing clothing in a wash container, delivering a wash liquor to the fabric load, the wash liquor comprising a substantially non-reactive, non-aqueous, non-oleophilic, apolar working fluid and at least one washing additive, applying mechanical energy to the clothing and wash liquor for a sufficient amount of time to provide fabric cleaning and, thereafter, substantially removing the wash liquor from the fabric load. The working fluid may be selected from the group consisting of perfluorocarbons, hydrofluoroethers, fluorinated hydrocarbons and fluoroinerts.
Abstract:
Described herein is a solution for use in cleaning articles comprising, a dry cleaning agent, wherein the dry cleaning agent comprises a siloxane solvent, a hydrocarbon solvent or a combination thereof, and an enhancer, which raises a KBV value of the solution. The enhancer can be soluble in the dry cleaning agent and water. Also described herein is a dry cleaning system that utilizes the solution, as well as a purification system for purifying the solution.
Abstract:
A manual spray cleaner for removing dirt and stains from fabrics and carpets comprising a spray bottle having two separate chambers and a single dispensing spray outlet for dispensing controlled amounts of liquids from each of the chambers. One of the chambers has a fabric/carpet cleaning composition therein and the other chamber has an oxidizing composition that enhances the cleanability of the fabric/carpet cleaning composition. The fabric/carpet cleaning composition and the oxidizing composition are simultaneously drawn from their respective chambers and mixed together at the time that they are dispensed from the spray bottle. At least one of the oxidizing composition and the fabric/carpet cleaning composition includes a fabric/carpet protectant. The two compositions are mixed before or after they are sprayed from the bottle. The two compositions can be pressurized with an aerosol propellant or drawn from their respective chambers by a mechanical pump.
Abstract:
A composition that optimizes the performance and maintenance of halogenated dry cleaning solvents is disclosed. One embodiment of a detergent composition for use with halogenated dry cleaning solvents includes water, a surfactant, a solubilizer, a coupling agent, an acid-accepting stabilizer, and a halogenated solvent. Optionally, the composition can include an oil-based fragrance and/or an optical brightener. When used in a dry cleaning process, the detergent composition replenishes the acid-accepting stabilizer depleted from the dry cleaning solvent and the halogenated solvent suppresses the flash point of the acid-accepting stabilizer.
Abstract:
A composition for treating or cleaning fabric articles, especially articles of clothing, linen and drapery, wherein the composition comprises a lipophilic fluid, a polyalkyleneoxide polysiloxane surfactant, and a second surfactant.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for removing and/or reducing incidental soils from fabric articles, especially articles of clothing, linen and drapery, wherein the compositions provide improved cleaning of incidental soils, either with or without a subsequent wash process or other entire fabric care process are provided. The compositions and methods are safe for use on a wide range of fabric articles, even in the home.
Abstract:
A fabric cleaning system, especially a system for use in the consumer's home, utilizing down the drain detergent composition for a non-aqueous, lipophilic fluid based washing process and automatic laundry machines useful for this process.
