Abstract: The present invention discloses a two-dimensional optical waveguide pressure sensor array comprising two or more row optical waveguides; two or more column optical waveguides, wherein the row optical waveguides and the column optical waveguides are deformable and arranged in a planar array to define a sensor in the crosspoints, wherein each crosspoint includes one of the row waveguides in contact with one of the column waveguides at its intersection point; wherein each crosspoint further includes a light coupling structure configured to enhance waveguide bending when pressure is applied to the crosspoint; wherein the light coupling structure comprises a layer of mechanical light scattering material disposed in contact with at least one of the row or column optical waveguide; or wherein the optical waveguide pressure sensor array can sense pressure by providing light to the row optical waveguides and measuring light coupled at each crosspoint to its column optical waveguide.

Abstract: A structural color changeable material includes a strain body and surface plasmon generating particles. In the strain body, a strain is produced by an external pressure or an internal change. The surface plasmon generating particles generate surface plasmon and are contained in the strain body. The surface plasmon is generated by an incident light with a wavelength of 2400 nm or less. A mean particle size of the surface plasmon generating particles is equal to or less than the wavelength of the incident light. The surface plasmon generating particles are periodically arranged parallel to an in-plane direction of a reflection surface of the incident light.

Abstract: An impact sensor includes a hollow container having a plurality of walls, a first magnetic member attached to one of the plurality of walls, and a second magnetic member magnetically attracted to the first magnetic member. A marking device is disposed on the second magnetic member. When a force applied to the sensor exceeds a first predetermined value, the marking device engages one of the plurality of walls and wherein the marking device marks the one of the plurality of walls.

Abstract: The development of a stress-responsive colorimetric film that can memorize the stress it has experienced is disclosed. The system can use the plasmonic shift associated with the disassembly of one-dimensional plasmonic nanoparticle chains driven by the plastic deformation of the surrounding polymer matrix. By modifying the plasticity of the polymer, the plasmonic shift and colorimetric change can respond to a large range of stresses. The pressure indicating film can be used to capture and record the pressure distribution and magnitude between two contacting or impacting surfaces by outputting color information.
