Abstract:
In a rotary anode X-ray tube, a disc portion is fitted into a rotary anode with a first gap therebetween and a fixed shaft is fitted into a rotary shaft to support the anode with a second gap therebetween. The disc portion and the fixed shaft are formed integral with each other to have a hollow portion therein. A cooling liquid is allowed to flow through the hollow portion. A liquid metal is filled in the first and second gaps. Dynamic pressure type bearings is formed in the second gap. A passage is formed to directly communicate the first gap to the second gap, whereby the liquid metal being directly supplied from the second gap to the first gap. Thus, the liquid metal can be fed rapidly and surely into the gap between the anode target and a cooling vessel.
Abstract:
In an X-ray tube, a rotary anode formed into a hollow disk-like shape is fixedly supported by a rotating body formed into a hollow cylindrical shape. A fixed shaft has fixed ends, columnar bearing portions and a disk part, and a flow path of a cooling medium formed along a central axis thereof. The bearing portions are inserted into the rotating body with a first gap between the columnar bearing portion and the rotating body, so that the rotating body is rotatably supported. The disk part is arranged in the rotary anode with a second gap between the disk part and the rotary anode. The first and second gaps are filled with a lubricant, bearing grooves are formed in the bearing portion, thereby forming dynamic pressure bearings, and a center of gravity of the rotary anode is arranged between the first and second dynamic pressure bearings.
Abstract:
In a rotary anode type X-ray tube, a rotary anode and a rotary structure supporting the anode are arranged within the vacuum envelope. A stationary shaft has a middle section which is fitted into a cylindrical portion of the rotary structure, and a dynamic pressure type radial bearing is arranged between the cylindrical portion and the middle section. The stationary shaft also has a first section between one end of the middle section and one end of the stationary shaft, and a second section between the other end of the middle section and the other end of the stationary shaft, which are fixed to the vacuum envelope. A transverse stiffness of the second section is set to be larger than a transverse stiffness of the first section, and a center of gravity is positioned in the middle section.
Abstract:
The present invention is characterized by supporting a stator to generate a magnetic field and an anode target by a dynamic pressure plain bearing using a liquid metal, and cooling at least the inside of the dynamic pressure plain bearing and an enclosure containing an anode target by circulating one kind of cooling medium, in a rotary X-ray tube apparatus which obtains X-rays by impinging an electron on an anode by rotating an anode target.
Abstract:
A rotary-anode-type X-ray tube comprising an anode target, a rotary cylinder supporting the target, and a stationary shaft having radial dynamic-pressure slide bearings to which a liquid-metal lubricant is supplied between the rotary cylinder and the stationary shaft and formed partially having a small-diameter portion with an outside diameter smaller than those of the slide bearings. The X-ray tube is provided with a plurality of reservoirs from which ducts extend. All the ducts open in the small-diameter portion.
Abstract:
A rotary-anode X-ray tube including a sleeve bearing with a stationary and a rotatable bearing portion having facing bearing faces, at least one of which is provided with a groove pattern, has a lubricant which is liquid at least in the operating condition present between the bearing faces. A reduction of bearing wear is achieved by addition of a solid having a low sliding friction to the lubricant.
Abstract:
A rotary anode type X-ray tube comprises a thin gas passageway extending from a lubricant chamber formed along the axis of a stationary structure and open at a fine gap G effective for preventing a lubricant leakage. In manufacturing the tube, a liquid metal lubricant is supplied to the lubricant chamber and to a slide bearing section, followed by assembling the tube and, then, sealing the assembled tube in a vacuum vessel. In the subsequent exhausting step, an open end of the gas passageway is allowed to face upward. The particular exhausting operation permits completely releasing to the outside the gas impregnated in the bearing-constituting members and the liquid metal lubricant, making it possible to maintain a stable bearing function.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an X-ray tube which comprises a metal housing in which a rotary anode which is mounted on a shaft is journalled to be rotatably by means of two bearings. At least one of the bearings is constructed as a sleeve bearing which comprises dish-shaped, mutually cooperating metal bearing faces which extend transversely of the shaft and which are separated from each other by a layer which serves as a lubricant and which consists of a liquid metal or a liquid metal alloy. The bearing is connected on the one side to the shaft and on the other side to the metal housing. In order to insulate the shaft from the housing, a flat, disc-shaped insulator which is connected to the bearing is provided between the bearing and the housing or between the shaft and the bearing. This concentration is flat and has a low thermal resistance in the direction of the shaft.
Abstract:
An X-ray emitter has a rotating anode rotatably mounted inside an X-ray tube by way of a multi-sliding surface bearing. The multi-sliding surface bearing has an inner and an outer sliding surface which are mounted so they can rotate relative to each other about an axis of rotation such that a gap is formed between the inner and outer sliding surfaces. A contour of the inner sliding surface, in a plane running perpendicular to the axis of rotation, is formed at least in certain sections by arc-shaped segments which are each centered around center points that are offset from each other.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed towards the prevention of high voltage instabilities within X-ray tubes. For example, in one embodiment, an X-ray tube is provided. The X-ray tube generally includes a stationary member, and a rotary member configured to rotate with respect to the stationary member during operation of the X-ray tube. The X-ray tube also includes a liquid metal bearing material disposed in a space between the shaft and the sleeve, a seal disposed adjacent to the space to seal the liquid metal bearing material in the space, and an enhanced surface area material disposed on a side of the seal axially opposite the space and configured to trap within the enhanced surface area material liquid metal bearing material that escapes the seal.
