Abstract: An electro mechanical piezoelectric under water sound acoustic projector transducer which does not interfere with adjacent hydrophone reception and is mainly controlled at the electrical input is presented here. The method recognizes that the main interference with the adjacent hydrophone is mostly due to the resonance of the projector when not transmitting and is excited by the incoming acoustic wave reflected from the target signal originally initiated by the projector. Means for accomplishing this are shown to be simple to implement on current or new projector systems. The process uses an electrical resistor that absorbs the incoming acoustic wave as if the resistor were a mechanical damper and the projector transducer were acoustically transparent.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a conferencing device with beamforming and echo cancellation that includes: a microphone array that further comprises a plurality of microphones oriented to develop a corresponding plurality of microphone signals; a processor configured to execute the following steps: (1) performing a beamforming operation; (2) performing an acoustic echo cancellation operation; (3) post processing; (4) selecting one or more of the post processed signals for transmission to the far end where a signal selector uses the far end signal as information to inhibit the signal selector from changing the selection of the post processed signals while only the far end signal is active.

Abstract: A system efficiently selects at least one device from multiple devices based on received audio signals. In some instances, the system receives audio signals from devices that each comprise at least one microphone. A respective audio signal of the audio signals includes a representation of a sound originating from a location. The system then determines a device to be used to respond to the sound. In some instances, the system analyzes times in which the received audio signals that represent the sound are generated and/or volumes of the sound as represented by the received audio signals. The system can then select the device based on the analysis.

Abstract: Example techniques relate to audio generation in a media playback system. Based on one or more first functions and first characteristics of an area, the system may generate first audio that includes a first audio signal and a second audio signal. The system provides the first audio signal to at least one first audio driver and the second audio signal to at least one second audio driver, thereby causing a first playback device and a second playback device to play back the first audio synchronously. The system receives second characteristics of the area and based on one or more second functions and the second characteristics, generates second audio comprising a third audio signal and a fourth audio signal. The system provides the third audio signal to the at least one first audio driver and the fourth audio signal to the at least one second audio driver.

Abstract: An integrated audio-visual system is disclosed for delivering an event to one or more spectators. The integrated audio-visual system includes one or more loudspeakers that are positioned behind one or more visual displays to be effectively behind the one or more visual displays to be shielded from the field of view of the one or more spectators. The one or more visual displays are specially designed and manufactured to allow sound associated with the event to propagate from the one or more loudspeakers with minimal acoustical distortion and/or minimum acoustical vibration while presenting a visual representation of the event to the one or more spectators. Moreover, the one or more loudspeakers and the one or more visual displays are situated to be a predetermined displacement from each other to further minimize acoustical distortion.

Abstract: Digital audio signal processing techniques used to provide an acoustic transparency function in a pair of headphones. A number of transparency filters can be computed at once, using optimization techniques or using a closed form solution, that are based on multiple re-seatings of the headphones and that are as a result robust for a population of wearers. In another embodiment, a transparency hearing filter of a headphone is computed by an adaptive system that takes into consideration the changing acoustic to electrical path between an earpiece speaker and an interior microphone of that headphone while worn by a user. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
