Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system having an oxidation reactor configured to oxidize an aromatic feedstock to produce an aromatic carboxylic acid; and a machine train that provides compressed air to the reactor, where the machine train includes a single-shaft air compressor.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the preparation of alkylated phenols. More specifically, the invention relates to an improved process for the manufacture of 2-secondary-alkyl- 4,5-di-normal-alkylphenols.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing a polyester comprising: (a) forming a polyester with an intrinsic viscosity of at least about 0.65, wherein said forming of the polyester comprises use of a catalyst; and (b) adding a phosphorous compound to the polyester after the forming of step (a), wherein said phosphorous compound comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of trialkyl phosphate, trialkyl phosphonoacetate, monoalkyl phosphate, dialkyl phosphate, trialkyl phosphite, triaryl phosphite, tris alkylaryl phosphite, and mixtures thereof. The present invention also includes compositions produced by process of the present invention and articles comprising those compositions.
Abstract:
A method for stabilizing triphenylboron-pyridine (TPBP) in a solvent-based anti-fouling coating, such as a marine anti-fouling coating, by adding to the coating about 0.04 to about 0.40 % wt., based on the total amount of the triphenylboron-pyridine, of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxy-radical ("TEMPO"). Also disclosed is a solvent-based anti-fouling coating, such as a marine anti-fouling coating, composition containing TPBP and TEMPO.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a high-loft nonwoven including a binder or stabilizer including a polyurethaneurea composition that provides flexibility and compression recovery to the nonwoven structure. Included is a polyurethaneurea dispersion as a stabilizer or binder for the short-length fibers which create the high-loft nonwoven structure. The invention is useful as an improved alternative for such things as polyurethane foam in applications such as bra cups.
Abstract:
Multi-filament polyamide yarns characterized by high tenacity and low shrinkage are disclosed. Such yarns or fabrics made therefrom can be used in industrial applications in which such a combination of properties is desirable. Such yarns are particularly useful in the manufacture of automobile airbag fabrics. Also disclosed is a process for making such yarns. The yarn manufacturing process involves spin-drawing molten nylon, relaxing and controlling the yarn tension, and then winding the yarn. Yarns made according to this process exhibit linear density in the range of 110 - 940 decitex, tenacity equal to or greater than 80 cN/tex, and shrinkage, measured at 177°C, of less than 5%.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a sublimable composition comprising cyclododecane and adipic acid and an optional diluent promoting sublimation of the composition. The sublimable composition is provided with a fragrance which is carried into the air by the sublimable composition to ameliorate or otherwise mask objectionable odors, particularly those odors from toilets, urinals and the like.
Abstract:
A tube core (202) for production and delivery of elastomeric filaments, including a tube body, a non-continuous groove or recessed channel (206) formed in an outer wall and proximate to one end of the tube body, and a slip-resistant coating or surface (204) on the outer wall of the tube body. The total angular range traversed by the groove or channel is less than 360- or in the range of 180- to 355- of the circumference of the outer wall of the tube body. The slip-resistant coating or surface includes a colloidal silica, such as a Ludox®, coating or surface. The tube body is constructed from paper. The elastomeric filaments include spandex. The tube core is adapted for over-end-take- off (OETO) applications.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel method for manufacturing a cellular elastomeric polyurethane foam ball. The product polyurethane foam ball may be used as a core for a tennis ball which meets ITF specifications for tennis balls, including weight, diameter, bound, forward deformation and return deformation.
