Also disclosed is a fiber and method for making the same, comprising a surface treatment, wherein the surface treatment comprises at least one clay nanoparticle component and excludes flourochemicals.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods for recovering diphosphonite-containing compounds from mixtures comprising organic mononitriles and organic dinitriles, using liquid-liquid extraction. Also disclosed are treatments to enhance extractability of the diphosphonite-containing compounds.
Abstract:
A side stream compounding unit is coupled to a continuous polyamide manufacturing system and is configured to divert polyamide from the manufacturing system, mixes additive with polyamide, and then return the polyamide-additive mixture to a main stream of polyamide in the manufacturing system.
Abstract:
Systems and processes are described herein for drying polyamide pellets. The system can include a spin dryer that removes a majority of surface water from wet polyamide pellets to generate partially dried pellets. The system can also include a fluid bed dryer that dries and transports the partially dried pellets from the spin dryer to produce dried polyamide pellets.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for recovering water from a condensation reaction of at least one carboxylic acid and at least one diamine to make polyamide. The method can include obtaining, from an evaporator, an aqueous mixture comprising a partially polymerized polyamide and at least one of a carboxylic acid and diamine; passing the aqueous mixture through a tubular reactor comprising subjecting the aqueous mixture to a temperature and pressure sufficient to further polymerize the partially polymerized polyamide by condensation of the carboxylic acid and diamine, thereby producing water having a substantially gaseous phase; passing the water having a substantially gaseous phase into a rectification column thereby removing one or more of a diamine, a carboxylic acid and polyamide to provide purified water having a substantially gaseous phase; and condensing the purified water having a substantially gaseous phase into purified water having a substantially liquid phase. The system can include, among other things, a tubular reactor, a rectification column, a condensation assembly, and a conduit network.
Abstract:
The resin composition comprises pellets having a diameter of less than about 1 mm, for example, 0.75 ± 0.24 mm, and a length/ diameter (UD) ratio of from 0.5 to 2.0. It is further provided a method for manufacturing such a micropelletized resin composition, and use of the micropelletized resin composition comprising perfluorosulfonic acid ion exchange resin as catalyst for conversion of organic compounds, for example, in polymerization to manufacture polyether glycol or copolyether glycol.
Abstract:
The system and methods described herein solve problems of inaccurate flow control, loss of optimum reactant gas feed ratios, and the associated inefficiencies brought on by variable humidity in reactant feedstream gases during production of hydrogen cyanide by an Andrussow process.
Abstract:
A reaction zone is provided comprising a plurality of oxygen clean up zones and a plurality of oxidation zones. A first stream is introduced to oxidation clean up zones comprising liquid cyclohexane, and optionally a cyclohexane oxidation catalyst. In addition, an oxygen containing gas is introduced into the oxidation zones. Next, the first stream is passed downwardly from the oxygen clean up zones to the oxidation zones, while cross-currently passing the oxygen containing gas upwardly from the oxidation zones to the oxygen clean up zones. The oxygen containing gas is introduced directly into the first stream as it travels through the oxidation zones, and the reaction between the first stream and the oxygen containing gas produces a product mixture. Finally, a product mixture is withdrawn from the oxidation zones that comprises CHHP, cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol.
Abstract:
A method is provided for winding an elastic yarn into a cylindrical substantially straight-ended yarn package. The method includes feeding an elastic or elastomeric yarn at a substantially constant speed to a tube core to form the yarn package. The yarn package is rotated such that the yarn package with a substantially constant surface speed. The yarn is wound to form layers of helical coils, while providing a helix angle variation of greater than zero up to +/- 80%.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are spandex fibers having reduced friction combined to provide a multiple end spandex package. The spandex fibers have a sheath-core cross-section with a lubricating additive is included in the sheath. A fusing additive specifically excluded to avoid coalescence among the individual filaments in the yarn. When combined in a yarn package, the multiple filaments are separable.
