Abstract:
The present invention relates to data communications networks more particularly a method for creating virtual links in a wireless mesh network and configuring virtual links in a virtual group of a wireless mesh network. One of the advantages of the method of the present invention is it eliminates the need to use additional hardware infrastructures for virtual channels or links in wireless mesh network and grouping them for specific service or application. Another advantage of the method of the present invention is that it allows agile network configuration based on situation and requirements by dynamically increasing the number of virtual channels or the number of virtual group. Thus, this advantage improves the scalability, security, and network management in a wireless mesh network. Furthermore, the method of the present invention provides a method to create virtual channels for mesh network having non-tagging. Thus, it reduces packet processing at access point in a wireless mesh network. The method of the present invention having one beacon for each virtual channel provides an advantage for configuring inside the beacon with secure and non¬ secure channels.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method of spectrum aware routing for data packet delivery from a source to a destination in a wireless mesh network. Preferably, the method computing node costs (34) for each mesh node presented in the network based on various factors affecting radio, channel and network condition. Node with lower node cost is considered better options in delivering the packet in the present invention. Further, the disclosed method accumulates and/or averages the sum of all nodes (30) in each possible route or path capable of transmitting the packet data to derive a link cost for each path and the packet data is delivered through path with the lowest link cost.
Abstract:
A method of establishing communication through virtual links in a mesh network is disclosed. The method includes providing a virtual interface at a first node in the mesh network, wherein the first node defining a plurality of access points. Further, the method includes bridging a plurality of virtual links to the virtual interface, wherein the plurality of virtual links enabling the communication between one or more user devices and the plurality of access points. Further the method includes grouping dynamically the plurality of virtual links at the first node into a single virtual link and using the single virtual link to forward the communication to a second node in the mesh network.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for path selection in a wireless mesh network. The wireless mesh network includes a default gateway (10), at least two gateways (100) and a plurality of access points (200). Each gateway (100) is able to determine cost of its backhaul link with reference to other gateways (100) in the wireless mesh network. The cost of backhaul link is determined based on link capacity and congestion information of each gateway (100) in the wireless mesh network. The cost of backhaul link is used by each access point (200) to compute a routing cost. The access point (200) selects a path having the least routing cost in its routing table (240) for transmitting a data packet to the backhaul network (20).
