Abstract:
The present invention relates to system and method for MAC layer handoff which comprises of multiple access points, a mobile device, and an access controller. It is used to minimize MAC layer handoff latency in centralized WLAN network and obviate scanning time during MAC layer handoff process. It is also used to reduce number of probed channels and waiting time for each channel response during probing phase. The system comprises at least one mobile device (110) connected to an access point (120), at least two access points (120), and an access controller connected to the at least two access point (120). The at least one mobile device (110) includes an AP Channel Receiver (111), the access controller (130) includes a Next AP Selector (140); and each access point (120) includes a Received Signal Strength Inspector (142).
Abstract:
A method and a system for implementing a location based Internet Protocol (IP) addressing scheme for improving mobile IP hand-off process are disclosed. In one embodiment herein, location co-ordinates (101) of a mobile device on the globe are obtained. Each location co-ordinate (101) may have a degree unit (102a), a minute unit (102b), a second unit (102c) and at least one precision unit (102d). The co- ordinates (101) are converted into an IP-based numeric value, 'N' and then embedded inside an IP address to create a location based IP address for improving mobile IP hand-off rocess.
Abstract:

The mapping modules (108, 112) comprises the method of extracting the subscriber IP address, the subscriber MAC address and the TTL period from a plurality of incoming multicast packets (302), storing the subscriber IP address, the subscriber MAC address and the TTL period in an intelligent hashing table (304); encapsulating the plurality of incoming multicast packets into a plurality of unicast packets (306), forwarding the unicast packets for mapping (308) and multiplying the unicast packets in the presence of multiple subscribers (310).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and system for handoff control in a wireless communication network. In an embodiment, a method for handoff control in an IP based wireless communication network, comprising (i) monitoring and obtaining movement information of a moving mobile node (ii) predicting the next point of network attachment for the client mobile node, and (iii) performing the handoff operation before the mobile node moves to a new location corresponding to next point of network attachment, wherein the interruption time during the handoff is substantially minimum.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to data communications networks more particularly system and method for detecting and recovering backhaul network disconnection in an access point. One of the advantages of the present invention provides system and method for detecting and recovering backhaul network disconnection in an access point. Another advantage of the present invention is that corrective action when the backhaul network is down and providing reports on backhaul network disconnection to a network administrator. The present invention further actively sends messages to determine the link status when connectivity is not detected.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of maintaining mobile connectivity in a mixed protocol access environment and more particularly the present invention relates to a method of maintaining mobile IPv6 connectivity when a mobile node moves from one point to another by preventing the mobile node from attaching to an IPv4 network. The present invention includes a method by which a mobile IPv6 enabled MN would become intelligent enough to avoid other protocols. The present invention is also designed to restrict the mobility of the MN to be within the IPv6 domain. The present invention provides a model for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who are interested in deploying mobile IPv6 and who do not want interference from existing IPv4 infrastructure. The present invention is also designed for mobility within an only IPv6 enabled network or it can also be used to move within an only IPv4 enabled network or to move between a selected list of APs.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system (100) and a method for facilitating mobile Internet Protocol (IP) communication. The system (100) comprises an IP address updating component (310) residing in a mobile destination terminal (30), an IP communication connecting component (320) residing in a transit terminal (20), an access requesting component (330) residing in a source terminal (10), and a session verifying component (340) residing in the mobile destination terminal. The system (100) and the method revolves around keeping track of the mobile destination terminal (30), keeping track of the communication session between the mobile destination terminal (30) and the source terminal (10). The system (100) and the method revolve around the authentication and mobility purposes.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for differentiating backhaul traffic of wireless network. Accordingly, the present invention aims at introducing a queuing, scheduling and de-multiplexing mechanism coupled with virtual interfaces to provide dedicated and prioritized connectivity to backhaul traffic for multi tired wireless network system.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and system for use in providing multiple gateways within a network. A plurality of border routers (100, 200, and 300) is added preferably in between the mobile router (150) of the respective network and foreign routers so as to enable consistent connection. The border routers, among others are (100, 200, 300) suitably configured to serve as proxy advertisers for foreign routers (500), and to send out notifications with respect to their active or inactive status to the mobile router (150) of the network so as to enable the mobile router (150) to select the preeminent border router (100, 200, 300) for forwarding packets within the network.
