A dynamic service group discovery and mapping approach avoids manual assignment of stream channels for transporting video services to the client devices that provide the video services to an end user. Client devices, such as set-top boxes, receive video services such as video on demand (VOD), switched digital video (SDV), pay-per view (PPV) and other narrowcast types of video for selective transmission. Each client device scans for visible stream channels, and sends a report indicative of visible stream channels to a dynamic mapping server. The dynamic mapping server applies aggregation rules for determining, based on the reported stream channels, which client devices are in the same service group. By receiving reports from each client device, the dynamic mapping server identifies groupings of service groups by combining sets of client devices receiving common channels, and “builds” the service groups as additional reports indicate common stream channels visible to multiple set top boxes.

A compiler includes a register allocator for allocating registers for instructions in a program to be compiled, and a code generator for generating object code based on the register allocation results performed by the register allocator. The register allocator allocates logical registers for instructions in the program to be compiled. The register allocation further allocates, to physical registers, the logical registers that are allocated to the instructions of the program, so that the physical registers that are live at a procedure call in the program to be compiled are allocated from the bottom of the register stack.
A working set profiler can monitor an execution of a program or can monitor a user-specified portion of a program to identify methods executed within the monitored execution and associate memory page accesses with each of the identified methods. Memory page accesses are categorized as shared or exclusive, where a shared page is a page that is accessed by more than one method and where an exclusive page is a page that is accessed by only one method in the monitored portion of the program. A call tree can be constructed and augmented with the collected information regarding memory page accesses. Further, for shared pages, the name of the method with which a particular method shares the page access can be collected. The augmented call tree information can be analyzed and prioritized to identify methods whose elimination would reduce program latency.

A conflict resolution system allows an end user to export customizations to an application program so that the customizations can be imported by another end user. The conflict resolution system may export a customization by outputting metadata describing the customization. When the customization is a custom property, the metadata may include the name of the entity with which the property is associated, the name of the property, the type of the property, a globally unique identifier for the property, the location on the user interface for the input field for the custom property, and so on. End users may want to share not only their customizations but also the underlying data associated with a customization. When a conflict occurs during import of a customization alone without the data, then the conflict resolution system resolves the conflict in favor of the imported property. When a conflict occurs during import of a customization with data, the conflict resolution system resolves the conflict in favor of the existing property.

In another embodiment, a recursive Y structure is used to create a clock signal structure. The recursive Y structure may also be implemented in a rotated alignment. For clock signal redundancy, non Manhattan wiring may be used to create a clock signal mesh network.

A first signal trace is received including signal values satisfying a target event. A first trace signature is generated describing a portion of the first signal trace that causes the target event to occur. A second signal trace is generated that includes signal values satisfying the target event. A second trace signature is generated describing a portion of the second signal trace that causes the target event to occur. Differential signal events are determined that differentiate the first trace signature from the second trace signature. The differential signal events are events from the first signal trace that cause the target event to occur, but do not appear in the second trace signature. The process can be repeated to receive a plurality of signal traces, and to generate a plurality of signal traces. The differential signal events are indexed in a datastore in association with the signal traces.

A copy utility creates a copy of source database objects that is transactionally consistent to a consistent point-in-time, and a recovery utility applies log records to the consistent copy to make a resulting image that is updated as of an identified point-in-time (i.e., the current time or a point-in-time after the copy was made). To effectively recover and apply the logs so that no previously in-flight transactions are lost, the copy utility registers a starting point indicating a point-in-time for logs to be applied to the copy and also registers a smallest lock size used to block access to target data when the copy was made. The recovery utility bases its recovery operations using the registered starting point and the smallest lock size when applying log records to the copy so as not to lose any previously in-flight transactions.

A system and method for hijacking inodes based on replication operations received in an arbitrary order is used to assist a data replication operation from a source storage system to a destination storage system. The source storage system generates a set of replication operations as part of a replication process and transmits the replication operations in an arbitrary order. After receiving a replication operation, the system determines whether the operation is inconsistent with a corresponding destination inode. If an inconsistency exists, the system hijacks the destination inode by replacing the destination inode's metadata with data determined based on the replication operation. The system may also delete metadata from the inode and/or initialize metadata to default values if the metadata was not replaced based on the replication operation. The system then waits for a second replication operation that contains the remaining metadata and replaces the metadata based on the second replication operation. In addition, data blocks associated with the previous version of the inode are freed.

A system for providing spending information in a locality by foreign visitors using transaction records of financial presentation devices such as credit and debit cards that are presentable to merchants is disclosed. A storage device stores transaction data generated from card transactions. Systems and methods are described that utilize dynamic time scale modification (TSM) to achieve reduced bit rate audio coding. In accordance with embodiments, different levels of TSM compression are selectively applied to segments of an input speech signal prior to encoding thereof by an encoder. Encoded TSM-compressed segments are received at a decoder which decodes such segments and then applies an appropriate level of TSM decompression to each based on information received from the encoder. By selectively applying different levels of TSM compression to segments of an input speech signal prior to encoding, a coding bit rate associated with the encoder/decoder is reduced. Furthermore, by selecting a level of TSM compression for each segment of the input speech signal that takes into account certain local characteristics of that signal, such bit rate reduction is provided without introducing unacceptable levels of distortion into an output speech signal produced by the decoder.

Embodiments described herein provide for robust servo patterns that comply with planarization constraints and also allow use of a single master template for manufacture of both the front and back of a magnetic disk. Planarization constraints are met because only a portion of servo data is hard patterned on the magnetic disk and the hard patterned servo data areas comply with planarization constraints. The servo pattern has two symmetrical servo write assist patterns, one on each side of a central burst pattern. The servo sync, SAM, track-ID, sector-ID, and/or RRO values can be written magnetically by the write head onto these servo write assist patterns after the completion of the planarization process. The symmetric design of the servo pattern allows both a left-to-right and a right-to-left servo write and read back, thereby enabling use of a single master template in magnetic disk manufacture.
