Abstract: The resilient support column comprises a pneumatic spring (30) which consists of a piston and cylinder and which can be fitted into and removed from the support column (22) by means of a sleeve holder (40) . This sleeve holder (40) is coupled to the column by a screw connection which allows the sleeve spring unit to be fitted quickly into the column (22) in a single work step. A screw adjustment is possible in the support column and the unit can be unscrewed when a replacement is required. Abstract: The pneumatic piston and cylinder acting as a spring controlling opening and closing of a boot lid is secured at its outer end to the lid and at its inner end to a bracket with a hinge pin. When the piston is fully retracted inside the cylinder the end of the cylinder rests on a spring above the hinge position. The piston reaches the end of its travel before the lid is fully closed. Between the spring and the end of the cylinder is included a stop plate. The action of the spring increases the length of life of the pneumatic cylinder.
