Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighter, low-cost inflatable restraint module. SOLUTION: The inflatable restraint module 10 is provided with an inflator 14 positioned within a heat shield 82. The heat shield and inflator are disposed within an inflatable cushion 12 and a portion of the cushion is situated within a canister 60. A chamber 20 is provided with an opening 26 and an extension 28 projecting away from the opening. Attachment of the portion 86 of the inflatable cushion to the extension keeps the portion of the cushion away from the opening of the chamber and, thus, away from potentially damaging heat generated by the inflator. Alternatively, the portion of the cushion can be kept away from the opening by attachment to a cover 140 which is, in turn, attached to the extension. The inflator, heat shield, chamber, and cushion may be secured within an interior region of the canister. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anchor plate constituted free to absorb impact and to disperse force concerning a bracket for the anchor plate of a seat belt supported on an A pillar of a vehicle front seat. SOLUTION: The bracket 10 is made in a shape free to absorb impact energy and constituted of a continuous seat made of metal, plastics and other materials. The bracket 10 is constituted free to mount itself on a surface 64, an extension arm 52 extending from the anchor plate 40 and a supporting leg part 60 connected to the extension arm 52. It is furnished with a structure not materially perfectly cylindrical as a whole, applied to be deformed when the impact is applied, to disperse the impact energy and to absorb additional impact energy. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design a new type of filter that is inexpensive, yet still effective in filtering gas.SOLUTION: An airbag inflator includes a pyrotechnic material capable of producing a large quantity of gas during deployment. The inflator also includes a filter, which may be an expanded metal filter that is wrapped about the pyrotechnic material. When this filter is wrapped about the pyrotechnic material, the filter forms a plurality of layers having a plurality of holes of different sizes. This filter also includes a first set of barriers, and a second set of barriers that is positioned outside the first set of barriers, the second set of barriers being offset from the first set of barriers. Gas passing through the filter collides with the first set of barriers to be re-directed, collides with the second set of barriers to be re-directed, and then flows out of the filter.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) which stably operates even when load conditions are changed.SOLUTION: The voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) has a first buffer stage including a first transistor 40a and a second buffer stage including a second transistor 40b. The first and second transistors are connected in a cascaded emitter follower buffer arrangement. The transistors 40a and 40b are provided in a common emitter/source follower circuit which isolates a VCO core 21 from the output. Thus, both stages of the combined buffer stage 42, namely the transistors 40a and 40b share the same current. Also, the buffer stages are AC coupled to the VCO core 21. The reverse isolation is determined by directly-connected two intrinsic base/emitter junction capacitances. Accordingly, the capacitance is reduced by half and thus the reverse isolation is doubled when the transistors 40a and 40b are of the same size.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for forming a mixture of fuel and a fluid oxidant in an inflator and the inflator comprising or being able to form such a mixture of fuel and the oxidant. SOLUTION: Inflation apparatus and method are provided wherein a hydrocarbon-containing inflation gas-producing mixture is formed via the fluid extraction of the hydrocarbon from a substrate material. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the movement of a crew by having plural flow out ports for flowing out an expanded fluid and flowing in an expansion type vehicular crew restraint body on a cap and grasping a first gas supply cartridge to the base of a diffuser element by an assembly for supplying an expanded fluid. SOLUTION: A diffuser element 36 is formed by a cap and base. The disk type cap has a cylindrical side wall for defining a circular top wall and plural flow out port and opened circular bottom. An installation tightening tool, which is an installation nut, fixes first cartridge 34a and second cartridge 34b between the diffuser element 36 and a grasping bracket 42 by engaging with a related installation bolt tightly. When respective cartridges 34a, 34b are started, the expanded fluid is discharged from the discharge side of responding cartridges 34a, 34b to the diffuser element 36 through an installation flange.
