    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a metal oxide-metal heterojunction nanoparticle is provided to vary the shapes of metal oxide-metal heterojunction nanoparticles such as a dumbbell shape and a flower shape. A method for manufacturing a metal oxide-metal heterojunction nanoparticle comprises the following steps of: mixing a metal precursor solution and an organic acid metal salt composite solution, wherein the metal precursor solution consists of a metal precursor, a surfactant and an organic solvent and the organic acid metal salt composite solution consists of an organic acid metal salt composite, the surfactant and the organic solvent; and pyrolyzing the mixture. The metal precursor is selected from the group consisting of HAuCl4.nH2O, H2PtCl6.nH2O, NiCl2 and AgNO3. The surfactant is selected among C1-C18 alkyl amines.

    Abstract: A method for producing an MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) T1 contrasting agent comprising manganese oxide nanoparticle is provided to obtain enhanced fine image as compared to the conventional T1-weighted image, and diagnose and treat cancers by conjugating a cancer marker with the manganese oxide nanoparticle. A method for producing an MRI T1 contrasting agent comprising manganese oxide nanoparticle comprises the steps of: (i) pyrolyzing Mn-C4-25 carboxylate complex to prepare manganese oxide nanoparticles having diameter of 35 nm or less, dispersed in an organic solvent selected from C6-26 aromatic hydrocarbon, C6-26 ether, C6-25 aliphatic hydrocarbon, C6-26 alcohol, C6-26 thiol and C6-25 amine; and (ii) coating the manganese oxide nanoparticles with a biocompatible material selected from polyvinylalcohol, polylactide, polyglycolide, poly(lactide-co-glycolide), polyanhydride, polyester, polyetherester, polycaprolactone, polyesteramide, polyacrylate, polyurethane, polyvinyl fluoride, poly(vinyl imidazole), chlorosulphonate polyolefin, polyethylene oxide, poly(ethylene glycol) and dextran. Further, a thickness of the poly(ethylene glycol) is 5 to 10 nm.

    Abstract: An MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) T1 contrasting agent comprising manganese oxide nanoparticles is provided to enhance image resolution as compared to the conventional T1-weighted image, show cell distribution by improving cell-penetrating ability and minimize side effects. An MRI T1 contrasting agent comprises manganese oxide nanoparticles which are coated by a biocompatible material selected from polyvinylalcohol, polylactide, polyglycolide, poly(lactide-co-glycolide), polyanhydride, polyester, polyetherester, polycaprolactone, polyesteramide, polyacrylate, polyurethane, polyvinyl fluoride, poly(vinyl imidazole), chlorosulphonate polyolefin, polyethylene oxide, poly(ethylene glycol) and dextran, and have particle size of 50 nm or less, preferably 40 nm or less, or more preferably 35 nm or less. Further, a thickness of the poly(ethylene glycol) is 5 to 10 nm.
