The present invention relates to a method of, in an MPEG-V based virtual reality system, representing the capabilities of electronic nose equipment and representing a detected scent for the purpose of transmission. By transmitting scent information on a virtual world, a real world and other virtual worlds between the virtual world and the real world or between the virtual world and other virtual worlds, a virtual world processing method represents scent information through a scent emission device. The virtual world processing method comprises the steps of: acquiring virtual information as scent information on the virtual world; acquiring real information as scent information on the real world through a reality recognition unit as a scent recognition device; providing the real world or other virtual worlds with the virtual information; providing the virtual world or other virtual worlds with the real information; and emitting scent to a user through the scent emission device based on the virtual information and the real information. According to the present invention, scent existing in a real world within the scope of the MPEG-V is recognized and transmitted to the virtual world, thereby providing compatibility between the virtual world and the real world. PURPOSE: A mutual cooperation device between contents and a smell recognizing device and a method thereof are provided to make a reaction on the contents by recognizing naturally generated smell or smell provided by a user. CONSTITUTION: A smell recognizing device(101) includes gas sensors to recognize smell and to generate data as the result of the recognition. A content device(105) receives the recognition result data to generate a reaction according to the recognition result data. Abstract:
PURPOSE: A method of delivering a data sheet about device information between a smell sensor and content and apparatus thereof are provided to recognize smells provided by a user or naturally generated and to facilitate cooperative interactions between a smell sensor and content. CONSTITUTION: A physical interface is turned into an active state, and a smell sensor and the communications module of a content device are connected. If data communication with the content device becomes available, an open signal for delivering a data sheet about device information is transmitted and an approval signal is received from the content device as a response to the open signal. In response to the approval signal, the data sheet about device information, which includes information about the smell sensor, is transmitted to the content device. An acknowledgement signal is received from the content device.
