CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting an interval between vehicles is composed of an ultrasonic interval sensor(10) attached to the front of the vehicle, a wheel speed sensor(20) attached to a driving wheel and computing wheel speed, a control unit(30), and an alarm unit(40). The ultrasonic interval sensor transmits ultrasonic waves, and receives reflected ultrasonic waves to compute an interval from the front vehicle. The control unit is connected to the ultrasonic interval sensor and the wheel speed sensor, and computes the difference between the transmitting and receiving times of the ultrasonic waves to determine the interval from the front vehicle. The alarming unit sounds an alarm when the detected interval between the front vehicle is less than setting interval.
