    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus dispensing with washing work probably interrupting continuous evaporation, operated effectively and inexpensively, also usable in the post-treatment of a salt-containing soln. by evaporation and capable of separating a liquid containing dissolved residue in an evaporator without generating the outflow from the bottom portion of the evaporator caused by the clogging with residue. SOLUTION: A washing apparatus for removing residue from the bottom portion outflow pipe of an evaporator generating an upper product and a bottom product and equipped with the bottom part outflow pipe has (a) an outflow container 7, (b) a collection container 8, (c) an outflow valve 10, (d) a washing water valve 11, (e) a container outflow valve 12, (f) washing outflow valve 13, a gas venting valve 14, (h) the piping 17 guided to the outflow valve 10 from the bottom part, (i) a washing agent inlet pipe 3, (j) outflow piping devices 6, 16 and the connection pipelines between the devices (a)-(j).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and inexpensive method for recovering all possible glycol as a pure substance which has been formed in a processing operation and for isolating a corresponding mixture generally containing glycol together with salt and water as well so as for high quality products to be obtained. SOLUTION: When isolating glycol from a liquid mixture consisting of glycol, water and salt by (a) vaporizing at least part of water and glycol existing in the mixture and separating a liquid or gaseous medium not containing salt and containing glycol and water, (b) by dehydrating the medium and (c) by isolating glycol from the dehydrated medium, a film evaporator is used for conducting the process (a).

    Abstract: Separation of glycol from a mixture of glycol, water and salt is carried out using a thin film evaporator. A process for the separation of glycols (I) from a mixture (II) of glycols, water and salt comprises: (A) evaporation of at least a partial amount of water and glycol from the mixture to form a salt free liquid or gaseous medium, (B) dewatering of the medium and (C) isolation of the glycols from the dewatered medium whereby step (A) is carried out in a thin film evaporator (35).
