Abstract: In a continuous process for environment-friendly drying and purification of benzanthrone, the following process steps are applied: - charging a pumpable paste containing benzanthrone to a melt present in a stirred kettle, - dehydrating and melting the paste by means of steam, - condensing the water vapours emanating from the stirred kettle, - flaking off the melt present in the stirred kettle by means of a roll and - filling the flakes produced during flaking-off into a container.
