Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for copolymerizing THF with an α, ω-diol in the presence of heteropolyacid, more economically, at a higher polymerization conversion, and more accurately in control of average-molecular weight.
SOLUTION: The method for continuously producing tetrahydrofuran-copolymer comprises copolymerizing tetrahydrofuran with an α, ω-diol in a reaction cascade in the presence of a heteropolyacid and a telogen, wherein the telogen and/or the α, ω-diol are added in the first reactor of the cascade and water is distilled away from at least one reactor to outside the polymerization reaction.

Abstract: A tetrahydrofuran-copolymer is obtained by co-polymerizing tetrahydrofuran with an alpha , omega -diol, in the presence of a heteropolyacid and a telogen. The telogen and/or diol are added in reactor (I) of the process. Water is distilled off directly from reactor (I), besides polymerization, throughout the reaction.
