Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer which controls inks such that inks of colors are uniformly reduced in the printing using inks of full colors including a black ink. SOLUTION: A three-color minimum residual quantity detecting circuit 29 of a head control section takes residual quantity data Min for a minimum value from residual quantity information of color inks Y, M, C inputted from an ink residual quantity detecting circuit and outputs it to a black/color comparing circuit 30. The black/color comparing circuit 30 compares residual quantity information of a black ink K inputted from the ink residual quantity detecting circuit with the residual quantity data Min. When the residual quantity of the black ink is lower than the other, the compared information is outputted to a judging operation circuit 31. The judging operation circuit 31 outputs information about a using quantity of each color to a printing control circuit based on the compared information so that a part of or all of printing data for the black ink is printed by a synthetic color (process black) formed by inks of three colors.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable execute ink jet recording free from printing misregistration between large droplets and small droplets by making ink droplets of one size to be injected by forward motion and those of other size by backward motion in an ink jet recorder that can inject large and small ink droplets. SOLUTION: A left sensor 7 detects the initial position when a print head moves left, and a CPU 2 sets correctly the print position for the left first row on paper P when an ink jet section moves in the forward direction on the basis of output of the left sensor. Similarly, a right sensor 6 detects the initial position when the print head 9 moves right, and sets the print position for the right first row on the paper P when the ink jet section moves in the backward direction. In such case, large-droplet printing is performed in forward motion I and small-droplet printing in backward motion II. Advance position correction by the CPU 2 prevents printing misregistration from occurring between large droplets I and small droplets i on the basis of output of the right and left sensors.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for recognizing a mark in which data obtained by reading out a trademark logotype can be recognized as the data unique to that trademark logotype through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: In a printer 10, a print head 11, a carriage 12 and an ink cartridge 17 (17a, 17b) reciprocate integrally in the main scanning direction shown by an arrow A to print a character or an image on a sheet 15. A specific mark label 18, printed with a trademark logotype 'ABC' as a specific mark, is pasted to a position for sealing the ink filling opening of the ink cartridge 17. A photosensor 19 for reading out 1 dot line is arranged randomly at an arbitrary position on the frame of the printer 10. When the ink cartridge 17 passes directly under the photosensor 19 at the time of starting operation, the photosensor 19 reads out 1 dot line of the trademark logotype 'ABC' corresponding to its own position. Serial data thus read out is collated with data prestored in a memory, and printing is permitted if they match each other, otherwise printing is prohibited.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printing head in which a top plate is prevented from sinking and which has a superior refilling efficiency for ink to a pressure chamber and is advantageous for high-speed printing. SOLUTION: The printing head 20 has a driving circuit 22 stacked to a substrate 21, to which a driving circuit terminal 23, a heating part 24, a common electrode 25, a power supply terminal 25-1, a common electrode opening 26, a diaphragm 27 (a seal diaphragm 27-1 and a partition diaphragm 27-2) and an ink supply port 29 are formed. Moreover, an ink groove region 30 comprising an ink inflow part 31 communicating with the ink supply port 29, two branching grooves 32a and 32b branching from the ink inflow part and extending in parallel to the ink inflow part, and a strip-shaped region 33 held between the branching grooves is formed within the common electrode opening 26. Supporting members 34 as struts for the top plate are set erecting at predetermined intervals to the strip-shaped region 33 in the ink groove region 30. The ink to be supplied to the pressure chamber 35 through an ink channel 28 from the branching grooves 32a and 32b of the ink groove region 30 smoothly flows into the pressure chamber 35 without being interrupted in the halfway.

SOLUTION: Ninety two chips 27 (substrate 11) of full color thermal ink jet head are formed on a 6 inch silicon wafer 26. At the end of step 4, four ink supply paths 18 are formed on the substrate 11 and a coupling part 29 is formed in the way of each ink supply path 18. Even it cracking strain is generated by an external force when a thermal ink jet head is completed and diced individually by means of a dicing saw, or the like, the stress can be absorbed not only by the fringe part 31 but by the coupling part 29 and thereby the entire coupling structure is not broken at the fringe part 31.

Furthermore, a forming part coloring powder layer 33 comprising various images of a magenta color developing bonding powder body M having thermoplastic weak bonding properties, a cian color developing bonding powder body C, a yellow color developing bonding powder body Y, and a removal part color developing bonding powder body layer 34 comprising an appropriate color developing bonding powder bodies M, C or Y, are formed to be transferred and superimposed on the forming powder layer 31 or the support powder body layer 32. The superimposed image is transferred to be fixed on a laminated stage 27 to form one layer of a fixing slice layer. The forming part is colored and strongly fixed, and the non- forming part is weakly bonded to be readily peeled off by welding of the removal part color developing bonding powder body layer 34. The demarcating partition walls 22-2 extended from a seal partition wall 22-1 and partitioning the heating parts 21 to form demarcated parts 23 are formed so that the inner wall surfaces 22-2a, 22-2b mutually opposed left and right to form individual ink flow channels 24 guiding the ink supplied to the demarcated parts 23 are inclined in a direction fast in drive timing with respect to the arrangement of the heating parts 21, that is, in the direction going to the heating parts 21 driven in preceding order, that is, in the direction reverse to the direction shown by the arrow C. By this constitution, the effect from an aspect of ink jet operation from the jet nozzles driven in the preceding order of the heating parts 21 to the jet nozzles driven in the succeeding order thereof can be largely reduced and a stable image of good quality can be always printed.

SOLUTION: Totally twenty two print chips 31 of a color print head 30 are arranged in zigzag in the longitudinal direction of a master substrate 32 and four nozzle arrays 33 each comprising N print dots 34 are provided. In each nozzle array 33 of each print chip 31, start point dots 34a (34a1,..., 34a4) and end point dots 34b (34b1,..., 34b4) of the print dots 34 are arranged while being shifted by L dots (5 dots) in the longitudinal direction. According to the arrangement, even if the interval m between the print dots 34 (end point dot and start point dot) at the end of upper and lower print chips 31 of adjacent zigzag arrangements is not exactly identical to the arrangement density n between the print dots 34 of the print chips 31 itself (m≠n) but shifted slight therefrom, print of the shifted dots is not overlapped at a same position for respective colors and unevenness of shade due to positional shift can be made inconspicuous.
