    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce 2,2'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane in high yield by adding water to the reaction mixture and reacting phenol with a carbonyl compound in the presence of an organopolysiloxane containing sulfonate group and mercapto group or an inorganic carrier material modified by the sulfonate group and the mercapto group. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R to R are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, etc.), (e.g. phenol) is reacted with a compound of formula II (R and R are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, etc.), (e.g. formaldehyde) in the presence of an organopolysiloxane containing sulfonate group and mercapto group by allowing the reaction mixture to include 0.1-30wt.% water, preferably at 50-70 deg.C to provide the objective compound of formula III. This method is useful for producing highly pure bisphenol A having high isomer ratio of a p, p-product/an o, p- product.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production a primary and/or secondary amine from an oxo compound suppressing the formation of byproduct by using an organopolysiloxane containing a sulfonate group as a catalyst for turning the oxo compound into imino and turning the oxo compound into an imino with excess ammonia. SOLUTION: An oxo compound is turned into an imino with excess ammonia in a case of a primary amine or with a lower monoalkylamine in a case of a secondary amine respectively by using an organopolyusiloxane containing a sulfonate group as a catalyst, if necessary, in the presence of an organic solvent, and hydrogenating the resultant reaction product in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at 20-250 deg.C under 0.5-25MPa pressure to provide the objective amine in the method for producing the primary and/or secondary amine from the oxo compound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high selectivity and a specific hydrogen productivity in a reforming reaction of alcohol with steam by depositing a catalytically active component on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite, and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. SOLUTION: A catalytically active component is deposited on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. This catalyst contains a 0.5-10 mass % palladium/zinc alloy and 1-50 mass % zinc oxide to the total mass of the catalyst respectively. When methanol is reformed with steam, this catalyst can provide >20 Nm3/kg.h hydrogen producing capacity at 300 deg.C reactor temperature. And the carrying material used is aluminum oxide having >10 m2/g BET specific surface area.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous production process for γ-aminopropyl- trialkoxysilane. SOLUTION: (A) γ-Chloropropyltrialkoxysilane and ammonia are mixed at a desired ratio, (B) the mixture is heated up to the reaction temperature, (C) allowed to recycle in the pressurized reactor for the residence time for the complete reaction. At this time, the reaction mixture may be circulated through a plurality of temperature zones. Then, (D) the reaction mixture is cooled down, when necessary, an organic solvent (an extractant) is added, (E) the product is separated from the two-phase mixture and (F) the ammonia phase is returned to the reactor (C) or to (A).
