Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce 2,2'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane in high yield by adding water to the reaction mixture and reacting phenol with a carbonyl compound in the presence of an organopolysiloxane containing sulfonate group and mercapto group or an inorganic carrier material modified by the sulfonate group and the mercapto group. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R to R are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, etc.), (e.g. phenol) is reacted with a compound of formula II (R and R are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, etc.), (e.g. formaldehyde) in the presence of an organopolysiloxane containing sulfonate group and mercapto group by allowing the reaction mixture to include 0.1-30wt.% water, preferably at 50-70 deg.C to provide the objective compound of formula III. This method is useful for producing highly pure bisphenol A having high isomer ratio of a p, p-product/an o, p- product.

Abstract: This invention relates to formed, polymeric complexes of metals of the eighth subgroup of the periodic system with ligands of an organosiloxane copolycondensate, optionally cross-linked by means of cross-linking agents containing Si, Ti, Zr and/or Al, in the form of statistical, block or mixed copolycondensates. The ratio between the number of moles of phosphine units and the number of moles of bound metal atoms is 1:1 to 1000:1 and the ratio between the amine units and the phosphine is preferably 5:95 to 95:5 mole %. The polymeric complex compounds are present macroscopically as spherical particles with a diameter in the range of 0.01 to 3.0 mm, a BET surface of greater than 0 to 1000 m2/g, a specific pore volume of 0.01 to 6.5 ml/g; and a bulk density of 50 to 1000 g/l. The invention also describes several processes of preparing the complexes, with post-treatment stages, and use of the polymeric metal complexes as catalysts in organic chemistry.

Abstract: The present invention relates to organosiloxaneamine copolycondensates as statistical or block copolycondensates or mixtures thereof of groups (I) and ( II) R1 to R6 is (III) and R6 is bonded directly to the nitrogen atom or to the two linked radical X and is an alkylene group, a cycloalkylene group or oder wherein n is 1 to 6 and m is 0 to 6. The free valences of the oxygen atoms that are bound to the silicon atom are saturated by silicon atoms of further groups of formula (III) optionally with the incorporation of cross-linking agents. X stands for ?N-H, ?N-CH3, ?N-C2H5, -S-, -S2-, -S3-, -S4-, ' ' wherein R" is H or an alkyl group. In addition, production methods and the use of the product for the removal of dissolved metals from a liquid phase or for the absorption of gaseous compounds are described.

Abstract: Rhodium-contg. organopolysiloxane-ammonium cpds. (I) are based on units of formula (R1R2R3R4N+)nXn- (II) R1, R2, R3 = R5SiO3/2 (III) (same or different), with R5 = 1-10C alkylene, 5C, 7C or 8C cycloalkylene, -(CH2)0-6-cyclohexylene-(CH2)0-6- or -(CH2)0-6-C6H4-(CH2)0-6-; free O valencies are satd. either by Si or (III) or by crosslinking units of formula MO4/2, MR'O3/2, M(R')2O2/2 (M = Si or Ti), or AlO3/2 or AlR'O2/2 (with R' = Me or Et; ratio between Si atoms in (III) to bridging Si, Ti or Al from 1:1 to 1:10); R4 = H, 1-8C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, or benzyl Xn- = (Rh(CO)2I2)-, (RhCl6)3- or (RhCl5)2-, and Cl-, Br-, or I- present in addn. as necessary.
