    Abstract: Hexafluoropropene is oligomerized in the presence of fluorinecontaining tertiary amines having the formula

    wherein n represents an integer from 1 to 3, X is hydrogen or CH3 and R represents identical or different, straight-chain, branched or cyclic alkyl groups having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms or, if n is 2, represents the group

    wherein R'' represents an alkylene group within the range specified for R. The C6F12, C9F18, C12F24 and C14F26 oligomers are valuable compounds for the electrofluorination to yield perfluorinated alkanes or are suitable as inert or isolating liquids, cooling agents, hydraulic liquids or solvents.
