Abstract:
Optical brighteners are prepared from 0.98-0.50 parts of a mixture prepared from 0.05-0.95 parts of compd. (I) and 0.95-0.05 parts of compd.(II), and 0.02-0.50 parts of compd. (III), where R1 = H or C1-C4 alkyl; R2 = H or C1-C4 alkyl in 6- or 7-position; A = -CN, - COOH, -COOCH3, -C6H5, or a nitrogen ring compd. containing R4 gp.; R4 = C1-C4 alkyl or β-hydroxy ethyl; and R3 = H or C1-C4 alkyl.
Abstract:
Novel benzofurane compounds are obtained by intramolecular condensation reactions of the corresponding ketones. The products are useful as optical brighteners.
Abstract:
1,2,4-TRIAZOLYL-(1)-DERIVATIVES OF THE STILLBENE AND BISSTYRYLBENZENE SERIES ARE OBTAINED BY CONDENSATION OF THE CORRESPONDING PHENYLHYDRAZINES WITH FORMAMIDE. THE PRODUCTS ARE USEFUL AS OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS FOR VARIOUS SUBSTRATES.
Abstract:
STABLE DISPERSIONS OF OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS HAVING SALTFORMING SOLUBILIZING GROUPS ARE OBTAINED WHEN USING AN ANHYDROUS WATER-MISCIBLE DI- OR TRIHYDRIC LOWER ALIPHATIC ALCOHOL, A LOWER ALKYL OR PHENYL ETHER OR A WATER-SOLUBLE POLYETHER THEREOF AS DISPERSING AGENT AND DISPERSING MEDIIUM. THE USE OF A FURTHER NON-IONIC DISPERSING AGENT IS OPTIONAL. THESE DISPERSIONS ARE PREFERRED FOR CONTINUOUS BRIGHTENING PROCESSES BECAUSE OF THEIR EASY DOSAGE AND THE AVOIDING OF DUST AND ISSOLVING MANIPULATIONS.
Abstract:
Fibrous materials of synthetic polyamides or cellulose esters are capable of optical brightening according to the so-called thermosol process (padding at ambient temperature with subsequent fixation by a heat treatment) when fixing in the presence of an auxiliary consisting of a polyalkylene glycol and a fatty alcohol oxethylate. Optionally foam-depressing phosphoric acid alkyl esters and branched carboxylic acid esters are used additionally.
Abstract:
New bisbenzofuranes which are connected by a direct bond or a bridgemember being in conjugation with the double bonds of the furane nuclei are obtained by intra- or intermolecular condensation reactions. The products are useful as optical brighteners, especially for detergents.
Abstract:
FIBROUS MATERIALS MADE OF POLYMERS CONTAINING AT LEAST 85% OF POLYACRYLATONITRILE CAN BE OPTICALLY BRIGHTENED IN A SAID MATERIAL WITH A LIQUOR CONTAINING A 1-(4''-B-ALKOXYETHYL SULFONYL)-PHENYL-3-B-CHLOROPHENYL-$2-PYRAZOLINE, ADJUSTING THE IMPREGNATED MATERIAL TO A LIQUOR CONTENT OF ABOUT 5 TO 120% BY WEIGHT REFERRED TO THE DRY-WEIGHT OF THE GOODS, AND HEATING IT FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS TO 30 MINUTES TO A TEMPERATURE OF ABOUT 100 TO 150*C.

Abstract:
An optical brightener composition consisting of an unsymmetrical bis-triazinylamino-stilbene disulfonic acid and of the two corresponding symmetrical compounds is superior to the single components as regards the degree of whiteness obtained thereby and the multiplicity of applications for brightening of fibrous materials of cellulosic and polyamide fibers.
