    Abstract: A 3-component lacquer composed of A) compounds containing at least two R1R2C=CR3-X groups (I) wherein R1 denotes hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are individually hydrogen, a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an ester group containing the radical R4 of a monohydric alcohol having up to 12 carbon atoms, -CN, -NO2 or a -CO-NHR1 or -CO-R1 group, X is -CO- which is attached to a further R1R2C=CR3- group either directly or via the radical of a polyhydric alcohol or of an amine and B) compounds containing: (a) at least two active H atoms or (b) at least two groups having active H atoms of the type -AH (II) or (c) at least one active H atom and at least one group of the type (II) and A is -CH- or -NH- or -S- and optionally with customary additives and C) at least one catalyst selected from the group consisting of diazabicyclooctane (DABCO), fluorides of quaternary ammonium compounds on their own or as a mixture with alkyl silicates, amidines, tertiary phosphanes of the formula P(CH2-Y)3 in which the Ys are identical or different and are -OH, -CH2CN or -N(Z)2 in which Z is an alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, tertiary phosphanes of the formula P(R4,R5,R6) in which R4, R5 and R6 are alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms or a phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one alkyl, alkoxy or dialkylamino, each of which has 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl, and R4, R5 and R6 are identical or different, but at least one of them is phenyl, and aminophosphoranes of the formula (R7,R8,R9) P=N-C (R10, R11,R12) in which R7, R8 and R9 are identical or different and denote an alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms or a alkoxy or dialkylamino group, each of which has 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl, and R10, R11 and R12 are identical or different and each represents an alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a phenyl.

    Abstract: Coating compsn. contains (A) a film-forming resin, (B) a cellulose ester, (C) solvent, (D) metal pigment and opt. (E) crosslinkers and (F) further lacquer additives and of the type esp. to give a multi-layer coating with a base layer and opt. a clear topcoat. (i) the cellulose ester (B) has an acetyl content of 2-30 (pref. 2-5) wt.%, a butyryl content of 17-53 (pref. 47-53) wt.% and an average mol.wt. of at least 25000, pref. 30000-60000; and (ii) this cellulose ester is introduced into the coating compsn. in the form of a pasty, thixotropic pre-mix (e.g. with the crosslinkers). The solids content of the compsn. is pref. 15-30 wt.%. The cellulose ester pre-mix pref. contains a diluent which swells the cellulose ester, esp. an aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon or a higher alcohol. alcohol.

    Abstract: HOE 89/F 174 of the disclosure Coating material, process for the preparation of coatings and substrates coated therewith The invention relates to a coating material for the preparation of coatings, in particular multi-layer paint coatings composed of at least one base layer and, if appropriate, at least one transparent cover coat, the coating material containing film-forming resin (A), cellulose esters (B), solvents (C), metallic pigments (D) and, if appropriate, crosslinking agents (E) and also, if appropriate, further paint additives (F), wherein the cellulose ester (B) has an acetyl content of 2.0 to 30 % by weight, a butyryl content of 17 to 53 % by weight and an average molecular weight M? of at least 25,000, this cellulose ester (B) having been introduced into the coating material in the form of a pasty, thixotropic premix. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a multi-layer coating and to the substrates thus coated. The coating materials according to the invention are distinguished, inter alia, by high solids contents at low viscosities, and afford coatings with fault-free metallic effects.
