    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize compact display of multi-dimensional data by generating and storing clustering information for one or more clusters into which multi- dimensional data is divided, and generating and storing one or more dimension- reduced clusters and dimension-reduction information for this cluster. SOLUTION: A clustering process receives basic data 602 as the input and divides this data into plural data clusters 603 and generates clustering information 504 related to details of this division. Clustering information 604 generated by the learning stage of a clustering algorithm is changed with this algorithm. Dimension reduction 606 receives one data cluster 603 and generates dimension- reduction information 607 and a dimension-reduced cluster 603. Next, a search possible index 612 for the current cluster is generated. If the number of already analyzed clusters is equal to the number of clusters 603 generated by the clustering algorithm, the process is terminated here.

    Abstract: A system for writing data to a disk array includes a cache memory coupled to the disk array for storing data indicative of locations on the disk array and parity blocks associated with parity groups including the locations. Each of the parity blocks includes an identifier indicative of locations within a particular parity group which are protected by the parity data. Write logic reads the identifier from the parity block, and based thereon, determines whether a disk location is not protected by the parity data. The write logic also writes to the location and updates the parity data and the identifier associated with the parity block to include the location of the data block to indicate that the location is protected.
