Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of data rate adaptation based on channel conditions. SOLUTION: Data is transmitted at a first data rate based on a measured first channel condition. If a NACK is received, the data is retransmitted. The data is retransmitted at a rate which is based on the condition of the channel during or before the transmission of the NACK. The data retransmission rate can be based on the actual channel condition at the time of the first transmission plus the condition of the channel before or during the transmission of the NACK.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a data transmitting method which improves channel transmission efficiency and simultaneously realizes scheduling flexibility. SOLUTION: This sub-packet size is adapted to a data rate at which the sub-packet is to be transmitted. The sub-packet size is adapted to the data rate in a format that would allow a sub-packet whose size is adapted to be soft combined with another sub-packet of a same or different size. In one embodiment, the method has a step for encoding the communication path of an encoder packet in order to generate a communication path encoded encoder packet, and a step for dividing and/or repeating the communication path encoded encoder packet in order to generate an encoder sub-packet having the size of the encoder packet and a size based on a data transmission rate to be transmitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid transmission method for wireless communications. SOLUTION: A communication channel is divided into a plurality of time slots of equal duration and each of the time slots is further sub-divided into multiple sub-slots. In one embodiment, the communication channel is divided into time slots according to a TDMA (time division multiple access) scheme. Each time slot is then further code-multiplexed into a plurality of sub-slots according to a CDMA (code division multiple access) scheme. Each of the sub- slots is therefore capable of carrying a separately coded transmission within the communication channel, so that multiple simultaneous transmissions can occur in any given time slot. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive incremental redundancy (hybrid ARQ) method for retransmitting information through a communication channel of a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: Code multiplexing is used within fixed length frames in order to change the number of codes, modulation, and coding on retransmissions to provide the desired redundancy for successful decoding. The operation of adaptive hybrid ARQ in the code domain also provided finer granularity in which to efficiently transmitting redundancy. A method for retransmitting information in a communication channel having a plurality of fixed length frames each divided into a plurality of time slots of equal duration includes the step of code multiplexing a retransmission of a previous transmission within one of the fixed length frames using one or more of a plurality of codes. The number of codes used for the retransmission is variable based on the condition of the communication channel.

Abstract: The error detection method includes decoding a portion of each control channel that is simultaneously received by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The UE is provided with techniques to determine if one or more of the control channels were successfully received during the decoding step. If more than one control channel was successfully received, the method selects only one of the successfully received control channels based on calculated path metric differences (PMD) that serve as a "tie-breaking" mechanism to select the correct control channel for a particular UE.
