Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital cellular mobile communication network that can efficiently provide a service to a mobile wireless station set of a subscriber. SOLUTION: A wireless link protocol framing system protocol framing system uses a private control channel and an auxiliary channel to provide a mobile wireless station set having a high-speed data transmission capability. The exclusive control channel includes a stream consisting of 20 msec streams, carries a single 18-byte wireless link protocol frame, and the auxiliary channel includes a stream consisting of 20 msec streams, and carries many 18-byte wireless link protocol frames in compliance with high-speed data bursts. The wireless link protocol framing system packs wireless link protocol frames into the auxiliary channel (SCH-RLP frame) to maximize the data processing efficiency.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently use a system band without impairing the quality of a sound signal by converting digital information emitted from a mobile object communication network at a first data rate into a second data rate required in a position where an ATM exchange is connected to a public switched network for the first time. SOLUTION: A mobile terminal 10 calls a cable system telephone set S1 in the public switched network 200. The signal of a base station 20 having the best S/N is selected by a frame selector 120 among the signals of plural base stations receiving digital data of the bit rate of 8 kbps in the mobile terminal 10. A mobile object telephone switching station 100 becomes an initial connection procedure mode. When a line 515 which can directly connected to the public switched network 200 exists, a vocoder 130 converts the bit rate from 8k to 64 kbps from the mobile terminal 10 and transmits it. When a connection opposite party is the ATM exchange 150, a connection procedure is advanced with 8 kbps as it is and the vocoder 153 of the final ATM exchange 150-N executes the conversion of 8 k to 64 kbps.

Abstract: The Radio Link Protocol framing system provides the mobile wireless station set with high speed data transmission capability by using the Dedicated Control Channel, which comprises a stream of 20 msec frames, to carry a single 18 byte Radio Link Protocol frame and the Supplementary Channel, which comprises a stream of 20msec frames, to carry many 18 byte Radio Link Protocol frames to accommodate high-speed bursts of data. The Radio Link Protocol framing system packs the Radio Link Protocor frames within the Supplementary Channel (SCH-RLP frames) to maximize the data processing efficiency. The Radio Link Protocol framing system functions to package the subscriber's data into predetermined frame format consisting of Core Units, which are packed, as needed, into one SCH-RLP frame. The data capacity is limited solely by the Supplementary Channel burst capacity. By simply computing the Cyclic Redundancy Check bits to validate the accuracy of the data contained within a SCH-RLP frame enables the system to copy the data directly from the SCH-RLP frame to data receive buffers. Both sequential and non-sequential frames can be incorporated into a single SCH-RLP frame. The Core Unit is the common divisor of both the Dedicated Control Channel and the Supplementary Channel. The Dedicated Control Channel supports transmission of a full frame of 9.6Kbps, while the Supplementary Channel supports data transmission speeds of 9.6Kbps and higher.

In this way the conversion of the digital information from the first to the second data rate is performed only when needed, i.e., at the ATM switch connected to the PSTN.
