Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater suitable for use in an electric smoking system. SOLUTION: The heater (39) for use in a smoking system having an electric energy source for heating a cigarette has a plurality of electric resister heater blades (121) which form a container for receiving the inserted cigarette and are extended along the inserted cigarette; each blade has the first heater blade leg (116A) having the first and second ends, the second heater blade leg (116B) having the first and second ends (122), and a connection section (118) for connecting the second ends of the first heater blade legs to the first ends of the second heater blade legs; the first and second heater blade legs of each heater blade are separated through each gap (125); the first ends of the first heater blade legs are disposed to electrically contact with an electric source; the first heater blade leg, the connection section and the heater blade leg are combined to form each resister heating route; each electric heater blade is heated along the first and second blades to heat the inserted cigarette; the first ends of the first blades have a common connector. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tobacco web suitable for the use in an electrical cigarette system. SOLUTION: The tobacco web wound so as to form a cylindrical tobacco rod 60 for a cigarette 23 operated by an electric cigar lighter 25 (figure 2) includes a base web 68 and a tobacco material 70 arranged along the first side of the base web. The base web comprises a combination of a tobacco fiber with a cellulosic fiber combined in a ratio of from about 2:1 to 4:1. The base web has a basic weight within the range of about 35 to 45 g/cm 2 , and the tobacco material has at least twice of the basic weight of the base web. The tobacco material contains finely pulverized tobacco and an extracted tobacco solid material in a ratio of from about 3:1 to 9:1, and further contains a humectant in a level of about 5 to 20 wt.% of the material. Abstract:
An electrical smoking system (21) comprising a housing (31) having front and rear housing portions (33 and 35), a reusable lighter (25), a filter cigarette (23), a cigarette receiver (27) which is open at a front end portion (29) of the lighter (25), an indicator (51) to indicate number of puffs remaining in a smoke of the cigarette (23), and a cigarette detector (57) to detect the presence of a cigarette.
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to aluminum containing iron-base alloys useful as electrical resistance heating elements. The aluminum containing iron-base alloys have an entirely ferritic microstructure and a room temperature electrical resistivity of 80 - 400 µΩ.cm. The alloy includes, in weight%, from 14-32% Al, up to 1% Cr and from 0.05 to 1.0% Zr, balance Fe. It can further also include up to 2% Mo, up to 2% Ti, up to 2% Si, up to 30% Ni, up to 0.5% Y, up to 0.1% B, up to1% Nb, up to 1% Ta, up to 3% Cu and up to 30% oxide dispersoid particles.
Abstract:
A smoking article composition and a method of making a smoking article composition and an additive, wherein the additive comprises particles anchored to the cut filler by a metal oxide support. The additive can be formed by combining particles and a metal oxide precursor solution with the smoking article composition. The smoking article composition can comprise tobacco cut filler, cigarette paper and/or cigarette filter material.
Abstract:
A smoking article 10 having a tobacco rod 20 of a smokable material 21 and a filter system attached to the tobacco rod of smokable material. The filter system 40 includes a first filter portion 42 and a second filter portion 46, the second filter portion concentrically positioned with respect to the first filter portion and having a lower resistance to draw than the first filter portion during an initial puff on the smoking article. The second filter portion closes upon contact with the mainstream smoke of the initial puff, such that after the initial puff, the first filter portion has the lower resistance to draw.
Abstract:
A filter composition of a tobacco rod for a smoking article includes a tobacco cut filler and a catalytic paper containing a nanoparticle carbon monoxide catalyst. The nanoparticle carbon monoxide catalyst is incorporated into a web-filler material utilized in production of the catalytic paper. The nanoparticle carbon monoxide catalyst includes a nanoparticle iron oxide catalytic particle. Also provided is a smoking article including the tobacco rod having a paper wrapper encasing a tobacco column containing a catalytic paper.
Abstract:
Smoking article components, cigarettes, methods for making cigarettes and methods for smoking cigarettes are provided that use transition metal oxide clusters capable of catalyzing and/or oxidizing the conversion of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and/or adsorbing carbon monoxide. Cut filler compositions, cigarette paper and cigarette filter material can comprise transition metal oxide clusters.
Abstract:
Mixed metal oxide catalysts are prepared by combining first nanoscale particles and second nanoscale particles to form a mixture of nanoscale particles and then the mixture is heated to form a mixed metal oxide catalyst. The mixed metal oxide catalysts, which are capable of reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide in the mainstream smoke of a cigarette during smoking, are incorporated into a smoking article component such as tobacco cut filler, cigarette paper and/or cigarette filter material.
