    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a closed volume as products are removed by a method wherein in a bent position, a free edge of a soft flap is positioned on one surface of a soft product-enclosing chamber, while a part of the flap having a reduced height is positioned on the opposed surface of the soft product-enclosing chamber. SOLUTION: A chamber 22a has an internal space which is reduced as the amount of remaining products 36a reduces, otherwise the amount of air or moisture existing in the chamber 22a in contact with the products is reduced. The chamber 22a is closely wound around the remaining products 36a and the chamber is bent on itself and tightened. Dimensions, volume, or height is determined depending on the amount of the products remaining after some of the products are removed by a consumer or user. If the amount of the products remaining in the chamber is reduced further, a flexible flap 28 is wound around itself to a maximum extent. Each dead fold strip allows a shape having a reduced height.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an endless conveyor belt which can carry minute particles of conveyed product without limiting the ability of the conveyor belt to articulate into spiraling conveyor stack, by connecting foraminous bottom members with conveyor links which are articulately connected. CONSTITUTION: In order that a belt may run along a path of the spiraling conveyor stack, a conveyor link 23 has two rods 25, 26 provided at each ends with spacer members 24, the fixed rod 25 being fixed to the spacer member 24 and the articulately connected rod 26 being fixed to the spacer member 24 as well as being connected to a spacer 24 of the neighboring link: it is connected to the one spacer member of the neighboring link by means of a hole and connected to the other spacer member of the neighboring link by means of a slot. In addition, the foraminous bottom member 27 is fixed to both the rods 25, 26 by a spot welding or other means and is sandwiched between the two spacer members. The foraminous bottom member 27 has the back rim overlappable on a curved front rim of the succeeding member and also has the structure to permit a free articulate motion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To apply glue to closure stamps for insertion onto packages such as cigarette packs so as not to jut out therefrom. CONSTITUTION: A pair of rotary glue-applying wheels 34A receive the glue from a glue pot 28 and transfer the glue onto the backs of the closure stamps when the closure stamps are fed through the glue-applying wheels. A portion 60 of the peripheral edge of each glue-applying wheel 34A is radially inwardly recessed to form an interruption in an outer diameter of the peripheral edge so that only a nonrecessed portion of the outer edge transfers the glue to the closure stamps. Thus both ends of the glue lines are spaced from leading and trailing edges of the closure stamp. A synchronizing mechanism is provided to achieve a proper synchronization between a closure stamp-feeding mechanism 12 and the glue-applying wheels 34A to ensure that the glue lines are kept spaced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To send a freely fluid material to an individual housing space by a prescribed quantity each time at high speed. CONSTITUTION: A measuring drum 30 distributes the freely fluid material 8 to an air permeable transporting tape 12. The material 8 is held on the transporting tape by giving vacuum to the transporting tape, and carried to a pocket 16 mounted on a continuous belt 17. When the transporting tape moves under the pocket, the effect of vacuum given to the transporting tape is stopped and second vacuum is given to pull the freely fluid material into the pocket. The freely fluid material is released into a space between filter plugs which are brought on an air permeable garniture tape 31 later. In one execution example, carrying to the space between the filter plugs from the pocket is helped by vacuum given to the garniture tape.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a smoking compsn. for a tobacco substitute and the like which contains a new aroma-releasing additive comprising a β-cyclodextrin deriv. and an oleophilic org. flavor compd. and which improves the taste of the main smoke and gives comfortable aroma to the side smoke. CONSTITUTION: A β-cyclodextrin deriv. soln. such as hydroxyalkyl-substd. β- cyclodextrin is mixed with an oleophilic org. flavor compd. such as vanillin, and the mixture is subjected to ultrasonic treatment for 10min at room temp. to obtain a clear, colorless and viscous soln. of water-soluble molecular clathrates. The soln. is applied on the outer surface of the roll paper of cigarettes in stripes in the longitudinal direction of the cigarette by using a micropipet. Then the cigarettes are dried at room temp. Thus, the smoking compsn. of the purpose is obtd. Under the smoking conditions of cigarettes, the combustible filler and/or the molecular clathrates of the β-cyclodextrin deriv. and the flavor compd. release a volatile flavor component of the cigarette smoke to improve the taste of the main smoke and to give comfortable aroma to the side smoke.
