    Abstract: PURPOSE:To separate and purify the titled compound from a water-containing reaction mixture derived from alpha-amino-epsilon-caprolactam, formic acid and formaldehyde, by stirring and heating the mixture in contact with alkali hydroxide, and separating the mixture into an aqueous layer and the layer containing the objective compound. CONSTITUTION:alpha-Amino-epsilon-caprolactam is made to react with formic acid and formaldehyde and/or paraformaldehyde to obtain a water-containing reaction mixture containing N,N-dimethyl-alpha-amino-epsilon-caprolactam (DM-CLA). The mixture is added with an alkali hydroxide, stirred, heated at >=50 deg.C, and left at rest to separate the mixture into the DM-CLA layer and aqueous layer. The molar ratio of the alkali hydroxide to formic acid is 1.5-2.5 and that to water is 0.3- 1.2. When an aromatic hydrocarbon (preferably xylene) is added to the mixture after heating, the objective compound can be obtained in higher purity. USE:Raw material for the preparation of polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain titled composition with curing and cure-accelerating potential in itself, useful for a wide range of applications such as various formed products, adhesives, coatings, etc., comprising a polyamide having a specific segment and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by blending (A) a polyamide having a segment of formula (R and R' are each methyl or ethyl) (e.g., a homogeneous polymer comprising poly-alpha-dimethylamino-epsilon-caprolactam) and (B) an epoxy compound (e.g., propylene glycol diglycidyl ether, bisphenol diglycidyl ether) in a weight ratio A/B of 100/5-100/100, and further, if required, (C) a curing agent, accelerator, reinforcing agent, filler, etc. USE:For color coatings.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an anti-fogging and drip-proofing agent having an excellent effect and durability, containing a polyamide wherein its main chain and/or its side chain contain a tert. amine chain, and/or a polyamide whose main chain contains a polyalkylene glycol group as the main components. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide wherein its main chain and/or its side chain contains a tert. amine chain, is prepared from a lactum whose side chain contains a tert. amine chain, such as alpha-dimethylamino-epsilon-caprolactum, or by reacting a diamine whose main chain contains a tert. amine chain, such as aminoethylpiperazine, with a dicarboxylic acid such as adipic acid. The resulting polyamide and/ or a polyamide whose main chain contains a polyalkylene glycol group are/is used as main components. Additives are added thereto to obtain the desired anti- fogging and drip-proofing agent. The agent is dissolved in a solvent, then applied to a PVC film, etc. and dried.

CONSTITUTION:A polyamide in which its main chain and/or its side chain contain a tert. amine such as a polyamide derived from a diamine whose main chain contains a tert. amine, such as aminoethylpiperazine or bisaminopropylpiperazine and a dicarboxylic acid, or a polyamide derived from a lactam whose side chain contains a tert. amine such as alpha-dimethylamino-epsilon-caprolactam and/or a polyamide whose main chain contains polyalkylene glycol group and is derived from a diamine contg. polyethylene glycol chain having an MW of 200-4,000 and a dicarboxylic acid, and optionally a water-soluble polymer (e.g. PVA) are dissolved in water.
