Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled epoxy resin composition having good flow and capable of providing a low-shrinkage cured product excellent in cracking resistance and strength, prepared by mixing a fiber of a specified shape with a powder or particles of a specified particle diameter distribution. CONSTITUTION:40-150pts.vol. filler comprising (a) about 0.4-0.7pt.vol. fiber (e.g., glass, alumina, or carbon fiber) having a diameter of 3-20mu and a length of 3-1,500mu, (b) about 0.6-0.3pt.vol. inorganic powder or particles (e.g., silica, alumina, or titanium dioxide) having a particle distribution such that particles of a diameter =90wt% and particles of a diameter =50wt% (with the total of the components of 1pt.vol.) is added to 100pts.vol. epoxy resin (e.g., bisphenol A diglycidyl ether) to which a curing agent (e.g., phthalic anhydride or triethylenetetramine) is added.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve mechanical properties by mixing fiber material with resin and powder filler after treating the fiber material with a liquid ingredient and molding this mixture. CONSTITUTION:Fiber material is treated with a liquid made up of ingredients such as unsaturated polyester, styrene monomer, organic solvent, etc. Next, after sucking and removing excess treatment liquid with a decompressor or any other means, a powder ingredient such as mold lubricant, low contracting agent or calcium carbonate and fiber ingredient such as inorganic or organic fiber represented by glass or kevler, or metallic fiber are mixed sufficiently by a kneader. This permix molding material thus prepared is molded by a compression molding method using dies. It is possible to improve significantly mechanical properties of the molding material while maintaining its electrical and thermal properties without changing the composition.
