본 발명은, 디지털 데이터가 기록된 기록매체, 그 재생방법 및 재생장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 기록매체는, 적어도 하나의 메뉴를 표시하기 위한 메뉴 데이터; 및 오디오 데이터 및 비디오 데이터 중 적어도 하나를 포함하며, 소정 메뉴를 선택하면 파일명이 호출되어 재생되기 위한 적어도 하나의 파일을 포함하는 메인 데이터가 기록된 것을 특징으로 한다. 이에 의하여, D-TV 및 HDTV에 인터페이스 가능한 디지털 데이터가 기록된 기록매체가 제공된다.

본 발명은 데이터 기록/재생 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로서, 제1저장매체에 저장된 데이터를 제2저장매체에 백업하기 위한 백업 장치는, 제1저장매체상의 백업할 데이터의 용량과 제2저장매체의 저장용량을 비교하여 그 결과에 따라 백업할 데이터의 비트레이트를 결정하는 해상도 설정부; 해상도 설정부로부터 결정된 비트레이트에 따라 제1저장매체에 저장된 데이터의 비트레이트를 변환하여 제2저장매체에 백업하는 트랜스코더를 포함함을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 대용량 저장매체상의 데이터를 백업될 저장매체의 용량에 알맞게 그 비트레이트를 변환함으로써 가능한 최대의 해상도를 가지면서 한 장의 백업용 저장매체상에 데이터가 저장될 수 있다.

PURPOSE: A recorder, in which thumbnail is recorded, a device and a method for recording thumbnail, and a device and a method for producing thumbnail are provided to more appropriately represent corresponding program, and to easily discriminate thumbnail by producing the thumbnail as animated image. CONSTITUTION: A recorder, in which thumbnail is recorded, includes program, and navigation information. The program contains video data and/or audio data. The navigation information defines thumbnail capable of being produced as animated image in connection with the program. The navigation information contains an identifier of corresponding program, production start location and time and production finish location and time inside the corresponding program.

PURPOSE: A recording medium recorded as a play available data structure by connecting audio data with video data and an apparatus and a method for recording/playing the same are provided to connect two separated data structures, and to relate the different data to perform recording/editing/playing operations relating to the data. CONSTITUTION: Video data(31) and audio data(41) are composed of many data units. A video data unit descriptor table(32) and an audio data unit descriptor table(42) respectively record information relating to the first data unit and the second data unit by data unit descriptors. A video program descriptor table(33) and an audio program descriptor table(43) store information relating to the data units configuring each program as information types relating to each data unit descriptor, in a program descriptor of a corresponding program. A program descriptor of the audio program descriptor table(43) includes information relating to the first data unit wanting a play related to the second data unit.

PURPOSE: A select method of an audio signal is provided to follow a voice mode selected by a user although a program or audio bit stream is switched. CONSTITUTION: In the method for selecting an audio signal, when switched from a program to another program, whether a sub audio bit stream having a channel identification symbol exists, is checked. The channel identification symbol is assigned to a sub audio bit stream of a program to be reproduced prior to be switched. If a sub audio bit stream having the same channel identification symbols exists, the sub audio bit stream is selected so that a voice mode selected by a user is followed when a program or audio bit stream is switched.

The present invention relates to an image processing device and a method for controlling the same. The method for controlling an image processing device, which is to process an image signal including a first image and a second image that are alternatively displayed in a display device and an auxiliary image, comprises the steps of adjusting the auxiliary image according to a transmission conversion format for transmitting the image signal to the display device; adding the adjusted auxiliary image to at least either the first image and the second image; converting the first image and the second image to which the adjusted auxiliary image is added into a transmission image in which the first image and the second image are combined according to the transmission conversion format; and transmitting the transmission image, thereby processing the image to have the improved visibility according to the transmission conversion format.

A disc reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method thereof are provided to reproduce contents without a contents disc by using authentication data for network streaming and a reproduction list. A disc reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method thereof comprise the following units. A disc reproducing apparatus receives contents from a contents server, decodes the contents so that the contents are streamed, and transmits the contents to a display unit. An authentication disc(10) includes a contents server and an authentication disc for executing authentication. The disc reproducing apparatus connected to the contents server provides a plurality of contents titles and includes an application for transmitting authentication data to the contents server.

PURPOSE: A signal processing method and an apparatus thereof for generating supplementary data generated with a video image in three dimensions are provided to extract three dimensional generation information for generating a subtitle in three dimensions from the supplementary data. CONSTITUTION: Three dimensional reproduction information for reproducing as a three-dimensional subtitle is extracted from additional data. A TS stream generating unit(120) generates a subtitle in a video. The subtitle is generated in three dimensions by using three-dimensional reproduction information and additional data.
