    Abstract: Casete quirúrgico (18) que comprende un cuerpo (22) que define un sustrato rígido para su uso en combinación con una bomba peristáltica (10) que comprende unos rodillos (16) de cabezal de bomba adaptados para comprimir un canal de flujo elastomérico contra el sustrato rígido durante el funcionamiento, presentando dicho casete: (a) una lámina relativamente flexible (20) sujeta al exterior del cuerpo (22), conteniendo la lámina por lo menos un canal moldeado en la lámina para definir por lo menos un primer canal de fluido (26) formado entre el exterior del cuerpo y el canal moldeado en la lámina, definiendo dicho primer canal de fluido una sección en rampa o troncocónica (31); y (b) por lo menos un segundo canal de fluido (27) moldeado en el cuerpo (22) y situado de manera que se corresponda con el por lo menos un primer canal de fluido (26) para formar una zona de transición (34) de canal de fluido en la que coinciden los canales de fluido primero y segundo, caracterizado porque la zona de transición de canal de fluido está formada en el cuerpo (22) con una pendiente curvada para que se corresponda con la sección en rampa o troncocónica (31) del primer canal de fluido, de tal modo que el área de sección transversal de la zona de transición (34) de canal de fluido sea un área de sección transversal relativamente constante en toda su longitud.

    Abstract: A cassette (18) is provided having an elastomeric sheet (20) that is bonded or mechanically attached to a rigid substrate (22). A flow channel (27) is molded into the rigid substrate that corresponds to a flow channel (26) molded into the elastomeric sheet. The cassette is used in combination with a peristaltic pump (10) having pump head rollers (16) that are mounted radially from the axis of rotation of the pump motor (12) so as to compress the elastomeric flow channels against the rigid substrate during operation. The flow channels (27) molded into the rigid substrate have smooth, fluid lines free from sharp edges and abrupt direction changes and correspond with the fluid channels (26) molded into the elastomeric sheet so as to provide a transition region (34) with a relatively constant cross-section over its entire length that approximates to the cross-sectional area ofthe flow channels (27) molded into the rigid substrate and the fluid channel (26) molded into the elastomeric sheet, so that the entire fluid path is of relatively constant cross-sectional area.
