Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the up-and-down grip of a surgical cassette. SOLUTION: One preferred embodiment includes the surgical cassette having the first side (for example, the inside) and the second side (for example, the outside) which can be employed for a surgical system. The surgical cassette includes a main body of composition of forming interface in a surgical console on the first side at during the use, the first gripper which projects from the upper part of the main body composed so as to touch the first clamp rail on the second side during the use, and the second gripper which projects from the lower part of the main body composed so as to touch the second clamp rail on the second side during the use. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical system having integral pneumatic manifolds.SOLUTION: The ophthalmic surgical instrument is adapted to be installed in a cassette-receiving portion of a surgical console, and includes a fluidics manifold adapted to be mounted in the cassette-receiving portion. The fluidics manifold includes a primary manifold including a body and a mounting surface formed on the body, an infusion manifold, an aspiration manifold, and a pincher manifold which are mounted on a mounting surface. The primary manifold is configured to fluidly communicate with the cassette received in the cassette-receiving portion. The infusion manifold and the aspiration manifold fluidly communicate with the cassette through the primary manifold. The pincher manifold controls the fluid communication of the cassette, the injection manifold, and the aspiration manifold with each other.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic surgical system. SOLUTION: The surgical system includes various pneumatic control sub-systems integrally mounted on a common manifold. Various required control mechanisms such as valves are likewise integrally mounted on the common manifold. Air cylinders for actuating the valves are directly provided on the common manifold, and pressurized air is supplied to the air cylinders through the common manifold. Such a construction eliminates the need of an external air tube for supplying the pressurized air to the air cylinders. Consequently, the reliability of the structure is improved, and the structure is simplified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical system achieved by improving a conventional technology. SOLUTION: The surgical system includes all of the various pneumatic control sub-systems or sub-manifolds integrally mounted on a common primary manifold. Various required control mechanisms such as valves are integrally mounted on the common manifold and sub-manifolds. A part of materials not necessary for the operation of the manifold within any or all of the sub-manifolds or the primary manifold is created and is used to form integral accumulators for storing extra pressurized air. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical system having an ultrasonic flow sensor with a small error of flow measurement. SOLUTION: A surgical system having a console that receives a cassette with a rigid fluid channel formed into a rigid plastic component or housing. The housing serves as a substrate for an elastomeric acoustic coupling that can be formed on the housing outside the fluid channel. The acoustic transducer is elastically mounted within the console, such as on a spring, so as to provide a relatively constant force between the transducer and the acoustic coupling when the cassette is installed in the console. Abstract:
A surgical system is provided having a console (100) that receives a cassette (10) with a rigid fluid channel (34) formed into a rigid plastic component or housing (14). The housing serves as a substrate for an elastomeric acoustic coupling (38) that can be formed on the housing outside of the fluid channel. An acoustic transducer (120) is elastically mounted within the console, such as by a spring (131), so as to apply a relatively constant force between the transducer and the acoustic coupling when the cassette is installed in the console.
