Abstract: Digital information such as video signals is reproduced from a recording medium, e.g. a magnetic tape, having a plurality of parallel tracks as n-channel (n>2) digital signals. The n-channel digital signals are reproduced by n-reproducing heads H1-H8. The digital information contained in the reproduced signals is stored in a storage means 52. Discriminating data is obtained for determining which of the n-channel digital signals is reproduced by each reproducing heads. The timing of an access means, accessing the storage means for processing of the digital signals stored in the storage means relative to the reproducing timing of the digital information reproduced by the n-reproducing heads, is controlled in accordance with the discriminating data. Abstract: In digital signal recording apparatus it is possible to input a plurality of kinds of digital information signals each having a different bit rate. Recording is performed in data blocks of a predetermined size, each of which includes a sub-block corresponding to the digital information. The size of the sub-block is switched in accordance with the digital information signal bit rate. The data block also contains data about sub-block size and position. If a number of signals possibly of different bit rates, are input simultaneously, recording is possible of all these in blocks each comprising a corresponding number of sub-blocks of corresponding size (Fig 7, 8). Alternatively the head speed may be varied in accordance with the bit rate (Fig 9, 10).

Abstract: A rotary head type recording and/or reproducing apparatus is provided with rotary heads 3,4 which are arranged to record and/or reproduce information signals individually on or from a plurality of parallel areas longitudinally extending on a tape-shaped record bearing medium (Fig. 4) by transversely tracing the plurality of areas; first detection means which is arranged to at least partially detect signals produced from the rotary heads; and second detection means 11 which is arranged to detect the rotation phase of the rotary heads; and arrangement to detect the recorded conditions of the information signals in the plurality of areas from the outputs of the first and second detection means. Detection of recorded signals in areas other than the (CH) area being reproduced is described in relation to area discrimination circuit 28 (cf also Fig. 8), and Figs. 6,7,9, the recorded conditions of the respective Cff areas being displayed by device 29. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decode an image whose resolution and size are not much different from those of an image from the image that is sub-band coded even when the image with any resolution and any size is received and to attain coding with a high efficiency. SOLUTION: The resolution and the size of a received digital image are designated and by deciding a level number of the sub band coding depending on the designated resolution and size, an image whose resolution and size are not much different can be easily decoded, and the processing of the image signal after the coding is facilitated. Furthermore, since the size and the resolution of the sub band image finally obtained have a conversion coefficient of a prescribed value or over, the coding efficiency can be enhanced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic watermark embedding system applicable even to dynamic images of little movements and also applicable to an existing dynamic images, without having to use many storage areas. SOLUTION: This device for compressing dynamic images by the use of in-frame encoding and inter-frame encoding is provided with a switch 11 for selectively inputting only in-frame encoding data to an embedded circuit 13 so as to make an electronic watermark embedded in only the in-frame encoding data. Thus, the device is applicable to dynamic images that have few movements and does not generate a motion vector and also is applicable to existing dynamic images that do not use input images from two cameras.

SOLUTION: A program described on a floppy disk is read out and sent to a processor main body 3. The processor main body 3 transfers this program to its internal hard disk or semiconductor memory. A CPU repeats a request process while displaying pieces of candidate music according to input from a user. The user selects one of the displayed pieces of candidate music and the melody of the selected music is displayed together with reference information of an image etc. Here, the user decides whether the displayed music is one that the user desires or wants to listen to. The CPU accesses an internal MDB (music data base) 1 or an external MDB to output the desired music from a speaker 5 and also projects an image on a display 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To decide the next transmission mode corresponding to the transmission mode of transmitted image information by dividing one image to plural blocks consisting of plural picture elements and transmitting by compressing the image with compressing methods different at every block. CONSTITUTION: Difference between reproduced picture element data when it is transmitted in a mode (e) and a mode (c) is calculated by using the output of an A/D converter 100 and that of an interpolation circuit 102, and the sum of the difference is calculated at every picture element block by a block distortion Dc arithmetic circuit 103. While, the difference between transmitted picture element data on a screen and stored in frame memory 104 and that on the present image is calculated by a block distortion Dp arithmetic circuit 105, and the sum (block distortion Dp) of the difference at every picture element block is found. A comparator 106 supplies a small value to a mode judging circuit 107 as composite block distortion Dm with data representing which Dc or Dp is larger, and allocates the data to prescribed number of modes (e) in sequence of higher Dm.
