Abstract: A method for communicating a list of handover candidates in a wireless local area network from a station to a serving access point (AP) begins by determining a list of handover candidate APs at the station. The candidate list is sorted at the station and is sent to the serving AP. The sending step can include sending the candidate list to the serving AP upon the expiration of a predetermined period of time or upon receipt at the station of an event trigger. The method can also include the step of requesting a candidate list from the station by the serving AP.

Abstract: Un método para cambiar un canal en una red de área local inalámbrica (WLAN) para aliviar el congestionamiento y los altos niveles de interferencia, donde la WLAN tiene un punto de acceso (AP) y al menos una estacion, comienza determinando una lista de canales elegibles. Cuando el canal seleccionado no cumple con los criterios predeterminado, el canal seleccionado se elimina de la lista de elegibles y se repite el paso de seleccion si hay canales elegibles adicionales.

Abstract: En una red inalámbrica de área local que tiene un punto de acceso (AP) y al menos una estacion, donde los datos se priorizan a través de categorías de acceso, un método de control de admision comienza calculando un presupuesto de transmision para cada categoría de acceso (AC) y un presupuesto de transmision total para todas las Acs que requieran control de admision. Se envía un pedido de admision de la corriente de tráfico desde una estacion a un AP. Se calcula un valor de tiempo medio para la corriente de tráfico en el AP, en base a la informacion extraída del pedido de admision. El valor de tiempo medio se compara con el presupuesto de transmision para la AC correspondiente a la corriente de tráfico y el presupuesto de transmision total. La corriente de tráfico es aceptado si el valor de tiempo medio no es superior al presupuesto de transmision para la AC que corresponde a la corriente de tráfico como al presupuesto de transmision total; de lo contrario la corriente de tráfico es rechazada.

Abstract: A method for radio resource management (RRM) in a wireless local area networ k (WLAN) having an access point and a station begins by obtaining a first grou p of parameters from a current traffic channel. Measurements from all availabl e channels are taken for a second group of parameters. The radio resources of the WLAN are autonomously managed by selectively invoking at least one RRM algorithm that uses at least one parameter. A RRM algorithm may be invoked based upon results produced by a previously executed RRM algorithm, whereby RRM algorithms may be continuously invoked such that the radio resources are autonomously managed.

Abstract: A startup process of an access point (AP) includes a discovery phase and an announcement phase. During the discovery phase, the AP detects neighboring APs from its own extended service set (ESS), neighboring APs from different ESSs, and external sources of interference. During the announcement phase, the AP transmits its beacon signals at maximum power in order to accelerate recognition by neighboring APs running the discovery phase. An automatic initialization channel selection process of an AP scans channels the AP will use to communicate. Information of each scanned channel is recorded and a best performance channel is determined for use by the AP.

Abstract: Transmission power levels of uplink/downlink communication is controlled in a wireless communication system. A receiving station produces and provides to a transmitting station power control information based upon received signals from the transmitting station. A measured block error rate (BLER msr ) is obtained from the number of erroneous blocks in a sliding window of the last N received data blocks and SIR adjustments are set based upon the BLER msr and a target BLER (BLER target ). A target SIR of received signals is adjusted according to the SIR adjustments.
