Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a novel aminophenol derivative or a salt thereof having good dyeability, discoloration resistance, washing resistance and abrasion resistance and useful as a coupling substance for obtaining a color tone having a high chroma. CONSTITUTION:An aminophenol derivative of formula 1 (R is lower alkyl; (n) is 2-4), e.g. 2-amino-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenoxyethanol. A nitrophenyl derivative of formula 2 (R is H, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl) or a salt thereof as an intermediate, e.g. 5'-nitro-4'-(beta-hydroxyethoxy)-2'-methylphenylmethane sulfonate. The compound of formula I is obtained as follows; reacting a compound of formula III with ethylene oxide or an omegahaloalcohol to form a compound of formula II (R is the groups excluding H), hydrolyzing the formed compound of formula II to form the compound of formula II (R is H), and subsequently reducing the formed compound of formula II.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a hair-treatment agent composition containing a silicone modified with a cyclic Bunte salt and a reducing agent and effective in imparting hair with split-prevention effect and luster durable over a long period. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains 0.01-50wt.% of a cyclic Bunte salt-modified silicone of formula I (X is alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal, ammonia, amine or quaternary ammonium salt; n is 4-10; m is 3-11) and 0.1-20wt.% of a reducing agent (e.g. thioglycolic acid). More desirably, the composition is produced by compounding 0.1-50wt.% of compounds of formula II and formula III (R is H, 1-4C alkyl, etc.; Y is H or OH; p, q and r are 0-5; R3 is 8-18C alkyl) and properly compounding conventional components for hair- treatment. The composition is used in the form of two-pack type composition consisting of the 1st agent containing the compound of formula I and the 2nd agent containing the reducing agent.

The ratio of A:B is preferably 1:9 to 9:1 (especially 3:7 to 7:3) and that of (A+B):C is preferably 1000:1 to 6:4 (especially 100:1 to 3:1).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition capable of providing color tone of strong yellow base and extremely excellent fastness, containing a 4-alkyl-2,6- diaminopyridine as a coupling agent and tetraminopyridine as a developer. CONSTITUTION:A dyeing composition of keratin fiber containing a compound shown by the formula (R is 1-8C straight-chain or branched alkyl) or a salt thereof as a coupling agent and 2,4,5,6-tetraminopyridine as a developer. The blending ratio of the developer and the coupling agent is preferably about (1:0.8)-(1:1.5) in molar ratio and the total amounts of both the components blended are 0.2-5wt.%, especially 1-3wt.% in the composition. The composition is blended with an oxidizing agent, subjected to oxidation coupling to prepare a dyeing solution and the dyeing solution is applied to keratin fiber. After reaction time of 10-50 minutes, preferably 25-35 minutes, the keratin fiber is washed and dried to dye the keratin fiber.
